I would just like to point out that we have a "six point" game this weekend in Arrowhead that will go a long way in determining who gets second place in the Western conference. If we can win this game, we're in a three game race with Colorado.

If we were to win this game we'd be 4 points back with LA, Dallas and @DC remaining. Colorado still has to play SJ, @Chicago and @Dallas.

Both schedules are about the same. We've already lost the season series with Colorado (0-2-1) so we'll need more points to take second place.

If we lose this game and LA draws or loses, Colorado mathematically clinches second place because they also hold the tie breaker over LA with a 2-1-1 record.

Pretty important game if we want a shot at second place. Hopefully the players and crowd realize this.

How much does it really matter though? Whether we finish 2nd or 3rd, we still play Colorado. (I realize Colorado could still catch San Jose, but it's not very likely.) With the first round being home & home, there's not really much of a home field advantage. Either way, we're away to San Jose in the 2nd round or home against LA (depending who wins that series).

All we really have to do is finish ahead of LA. (which is a long way from being a sure thing...)

At least we're catching them off a midweek game. I don't like how their (and Columbus') strikers match up against our backline. It seems they always find a way to split the seams and Tony sees like 4-5 one v one situations every time we play them.

I'm thinking a tie will be the likely result.

And a somewhat hard-fought one at that.

The Rapids looked quite beatable (even in our current form) last night, only a *#*#*#*#ing beautiful strike by Chung tied the game.

All this optimism is getting out of control around here.. ;)

Didn't get to see the game, but the result doesn't seem to positive too me. They were playing w/o Beckerman & Mastroeni and were still able to pull back a goal while playing a man down.

Si. KC will get a team without a 100% Spencer (if at all) so that is a plus. He's been the killer all season against KC.

COL did look solid on defense for the most part. CHI didn't have as much as they normally have had in previous games. I think most on this board would say that CHI has more dangerous parts than KC overall and certainly in the last month.

Garlick is playing out of his grape and Beckerman and Maestroeni will return. Unless KC somehow draws early blood, this should be a "take the under game".

A question is if Quill will return to the lineup. It was obvious that more opportunities had a higher degree of lethalness? without the services of ole-specialist/rally-killer Quill and Gomez, a man who has made the safe pass or kicked field goals for the majority of the season. Gansler has a habit of keeping winners on the field, so well see. My vote should be obvious.

My attack would be to run Klein, Guti, and Preki until they drop. Sub as necessary and avoid wherever Maestroeni is on the field. All shots on net far post and crash for rebounds. Defense will be predicated on who starts. Spenny gets no space because he's that good and probably can't cut as well at the moment. If he sits then Carierri is the blanket guy. Transition through Preki quickly as COL is too good with numbers back to expect success from a slow build.

COL should have a similar formula keying with Henderson and Chung interchanging on the wings. If COL is to score it will be through set plays and either of the wingers getting lost on a switch somehow. If I'm COL I look for the moment when KC is too forward and pressure with numbers to trap the ball and spring those numbers forward from the back. It isn't a secret that's the best way to beat KC.

Does KC have the guts to send numbers forward on anything but a slow build? If not, it will not be an entertaining game and COL will win.

Meola must outplay Garlick. It's A-game time. .

I've listened to the last game on the net when we were away at Colorado. Not sure of the web address, though. Maybe check the Colorado forum for more help.
