Hope to see the following starting line up on Saturday afternoon ; Cannon Kotch Borchers Pablo DLT Chung Cila Berkerman Henderson Spenny & Pedro
Re: Rapids vs San Jose My choice would be Cannon Kotch Borchers Pablo DLT Chung Rey Beckerman Henderson Cila & Pedro Spencer needs a rest. I think Rey would be an excellent offensive mid. I also think Cila can best help the team as poacher around the net.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose I see some of you guys putting Pedro in the starting XI...is he really finally back...it's been quite a while now with this strain. HOpe he can come in and help the team right away...By the way, I don't really like Delgado...and of course I still don't like Beckerboy... I really don't like the way he plays. Too bad Powell is injured, even though he is not that great either. Hope for a W.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose I, too, would love to see Peguero back in the lineup tomorrow, and we can always hope. Nonetheless, when I was over at the practice area yesterday, I saw Peguero moving pretty gingerly. He stretched for a long time, and when he ran, he ran very slowly. I didn't see him do any kicking. It could be that he was just being careful, and is going to be ready by Saturday, but my inclination seeing him yesterday is that we probably won't see him against San Jose. Hope I'm Wrong!!!!!
Re: Rapids vs San Jose According to www.cybersoccernews.com, Pedro will travel. Don't know if he'll play, however. Judging from the accounts of his practice session, it doesn't sound like he's ready to go yet.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose This is just pure wishful thinking on my part. We need someone who can score goals. The forwards who have been playing are not getting the job done (of course then neither are the offensive mids). If Pedro is out, then I'd replace him with Spencer.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose Ugghhh... I prefer: The Fab Five Henderson - Cila - Chung/Digi Rey/Pedro - Spenny - Delgado * Chung/Digi and Rey/Pedro can all tag team as they are not at 90-minute fitness I'd guess. Beckerman stays at home and practices looking for a teammate before he kicks the ball and tries to reduce his consistency in going over the woodwork. Final score: 1-1 slaughter in the world's crappiest stadium. Cheers, BilFish
Re: Rapids vs San Jose What's the deal with Beckerman ? IMO - at the beginning of this season his development seemed to be progressing however during June/July he has taken quite a few steps backward.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose He's a kid. Maybe his chick dumped him ... or he hasn't gotten any in a nearly a year .. or he's getting too much and having too much fun ... He's a kid ... what else is there?
Re: Rapids vs San Jose I wish I had some of those reasons for taking a step backward. The thing that I can never evaluate because I am a fan and no where near the environment that the players live in is what the climate is like for Beckerman. Are there players always on his case, Is He always on his case, Is he struggling with confidence issues, Is his style of play His style of play or the coach's? In my play at a much lower level, when I had any or all of these things going on, then my level of play went way down. When I was doing well and feeling confident, balls didn't go over the woodwork, and I didn't pass the ball away as soon as I could so that I couldn't do something wrong if I kept it. Given the fact that he is a kid, (Wish I Was), and that at least some of these things are likely going on, he is probably struggling. Giving Kyle the benefit of the doubt, these could be the reasons why he is struggling. Unfortunately, it may also be that he is at the highest point he can be, and isn't going to improve. That's what coaches get paid for, and we all aren't terribly certain that Hanki is good at that. I hope for us and Kyle's sake, the coach figures it out soon.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose This is why the European experience is so good. The kids have to grow up or get thrown in the trash. Here, it's about going out there and having fun with very little pressure. If the player has the discipline, he can do well here. If not, well then you have the Rapids.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose Well, when Beckerman says the "last great movie he saw" was How High, perhaps there might be some aspect of his training regimen that could be... um... altered.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose I guess I'm in the minority here as most everyone has him in their starting lineup, but I thought Cila was absolutely horrible on Wednesday night.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose What's the deal with Beckerman ? IMO - at the beginning of this season his development seemed to be progressing however during June/July he has taken quite a few steps backward. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did yu really watch the last game or are you just another beckerman basher? the coach AND the players told him that he had a good game... maybe you ought to find out what he is suppose to do out there first. this last game he was suppose to follow herzog which he did and the second half ( since la took herzog out)he was to play offense and defense and get as many passes to spencer which he did. he played his butt off running on offense and defense. there were maybe 8 shots on goal and he was tied with henderson another midfielder-(where are the forwards shots)-also he had to play most of the defense in the middle...
Re: Rapids vs San Jose I don't think he was horrible. He comes and goes in my opinion. He seems to get off to a fast start then disappears as the other side gets some possession and momentum. But because of this, I don't think he was that good either.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose He was OK the last game against LA. He pushed the ball forward (I wasn't even sure his foot worked that way), kept LA honest with a couple of shots and hustled. But unless the coach told him to go out there and absolutely suck, the last couple of games for him before that were a disaster. I think overall, he has been worse than last year, judging by my attendance at games.
Re: Rapids vs San Jose Agreed, a young developing player needs to display 'game day' improvement on a year-to-year basis, IMO - that's simply not the case with Beckerman & Trembly.
Does anyone have any more info on Pablo? The Rapid's site lists him as out for this match with a quad strain. When did that happen? http://www.coloradorapids.com/TheMatch/MatchUp.asp Now I know that these things are a constant source of mind game fodder for Hanki-poo, but if this is true this worries me greatly... Okay, not greatly, maybe a little. And what kind of regimin does Ireland have these guys on? No stretching, lift too much weight, no calcium...
Re: Rapids vs San Jose I have trouble awarding quality marks to a holding midfielder who manages to play at least 9 passes directly to the feet of the opposing team. It may have been more but honestly, I stopped counting. I don't care who your coach is, that's not something you're instructed to do. At one point in the second half, Beckerman had the ball in his own half, behind the circle, and he served a long, looping 40-plus yard ball directly to the Galaxy defense, and I'll be damned if Spenny or any other Rapids player was within 30 yards of where the ball landed. Oh, and 8 shots on goal and Beckerman tied with Hendo? Maybe you were the one not watching the game; the Rapids had maybe 4 or 5 total shots on goal. and I remember that Hendo was the only one credited with more than one SOG. This isn't to say that Beckerman didn't have many good moments in his game; like the rest of his teammates, there were ups and downs. Yet there has to be a point where a player steps up and makes his mark felt on the game, and truly influences the match. Not one player occupying a central midfield role for the Rapids in 2004 has managed to do this, not in one single game. This isn't "Beckerman bashing." This is reality.
CRAP. Word just in that Pablo suffered a fairly severe quad strain during training on Friday and will not be able to play against San Jose... may be out for quite some time.
No joke. They are kicking our asses. With no Pablo LD and Ching are just running free. 1-0 at half could have been 4-0. Spenny almost tied it up though. After half, Digi came on for Crawford (that will shore things up!) and SJ score twice quickly off his miscues. The first was give away in the back and then a nice feed to LD as Joey watched his man while the guy delivered an un pressured cross into the box. All Joey gave him was time and space, everything else he shut down. Donavan one touched the ball through Cannon's legs. I mean we look BAD. Now Trembley is coming on for Peguero, that means Chris will go into his ineffective role as a forward and the left side will be patrolled by Digi and Trembley. I believe I will go find something better to do. The only positive I see, is this is so bad it "should" cost Hanki his job. Probably won't, but Kroenke wouldn't put up with this stuff from any other team he owns.
Truly a team effort in the loss. I'm sure everyone will bring out their favorite whipping boys to blame but from my seat everyone played horrible. My favorite whipping boy, however, deserves credit for great hustle and a even better shot. Nice job Seth. I have no clue how to improve this team. Blame the coach I guess, but after today's performance, I'd fire 90% of the organization. Embarrassed on national TV. Can we send the entire team (and coach and whoever selects the players) to SLC and we get to pick a new team?
