The next important game on the Rapids schedule. This is one of the home games where most believe three points it critical to play-off hopes. The latest Rapid player*, Mac Kandji, won't arrive in Colorado until Thursday which brings into question his availability for Saturday. Assuming he doesn't start, who does start in Mehdi's place. If playing time is any indication it will be Well Thompson. The other question is whether Wynne is available and ready. If so does that push Wallace back to the bench or does he go in Kimura's spot? Lots'O'Question but I'm guessing the following [LINEUP-4-4-2]Casey,Omar,Smith,JL,Pablo,Wells,Wallace,Moor,Baudet,Wynne,Pickens[/LINEUP-4-4-2] *For Jason - at the point I created the post
Your post is out of date. The newest Rapids player is now Brian Mullan (trade with Houston for Colin Clark and allocation $). Must win game, no other way to look at it.
From what I've heard, Baudet is out. Wynne will be available unless he has a set back in next day or so. I suspect Smith will start Thompson, but wish he would start Lopez. Seems too soon for Mullan or Kandji to start, maybe get minutes towards the end.
I did some investigative work on the history of Jameson's Night. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2010/09/history-of-jamesons-night.html The team is 6-3-1 against New England going back to the first Jameson's Night in 2002. The only loss was the second game in 2002 when, from all appearances, there was no Jameson's Night.
Remembering that Wynne started earlier this year after first showing up at practice on a Friday, I think it is entirely possible that Smith will start Mullan at right wing.
I think Moor did the same thing last year. I'll bet Gary's last words to each new player is, "be ready to play."
I would love to see Mullen starting on a wing Saturday. I would be surprised if Mac started. It would be interesting to see him on the other wing though. Imagine if JL or Pablo would push a bit forward. Could be a very interesting lineup.
It would be very disappointing if they don't. Then again, that's why we watch the games. S... happens: incredibly bad weather, bad calls, fouls, injuries, fans... Ever see the video where the goalie dove at a balloon - his own fans balloon - while the opposition shot the ball into the net?
2-0 win, goals by Conor Casey and Omar Cummings. Cummings and Mullan get assists. We should continue our home dominance of the last couple of games, as NE is no better than Houston or Chivas. I think Mullan will create a number of dangerous chances and Cummings will continue to be the best part of our offense. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2010/09/jamesons-night.html
