I actually don't have anything against Petke, but I thought the defense just looked tighter with Pablo in the back. ----------Cannon Freeman Pablo Karanka Denton Cooke Nkong Beckerman Clarke -------Peterson Niko Three subs. Noel for Cooke and Niko slides to the right. Petke for Nkong and Pablo pushes to midfield Thiago for Clarke if tactically we need to get Peterson to the wing. If Cooke or Nkong aren't ready to start, but can sub reverse things a bit. Bring Nkong in for Petke and slide Pablo back. Bring Cooke in for a forward and slide Niko up top

Stop me if you've heard this before but ... that 'Match Up' page should be called the Mess Up page. They have Cooke as a probable starter and as "Out" for his knee injury. They show Tarley as one of 15 (!) "Probable" substitutes and no Nkong in sight. It is sort of surprising that Dedi is not listed as starting and with 11 players listed to start and 15 listed to substitute ... probably, I'm sort of surprised not to see #33 Keeshawn Zink listed?
I have one question. Isn't Petke unable to play because of the yellow card accumulation? He played in the US Cup game because I am assuming the cards do not count in that game, which means he should miss the next league game, right? In any case I wont miss him as I dont think he adds much to the back line anyway. Please, please, Clavijo dont even think of playing Kiro in this game.
I'm fuzzy on the whole point accumulation thing. The MLSNET.com preview says no one is out. Beckerman, Freeman, and Mastroeni are all one point away. Gargan, Mathis, Martins, and Petke are all two points away. I though Petke served his sentence during the LA game when Pablo was at the back, but I guess that was just the red card from the RSL game.
* 1 - Joe Cannon (GK) * 2 - Hunter Freeman * 4 - Dan Gargan * 5 - Kyle Beckerman * 12 - Mike Petke * 15 - Jacob Peterson * 18 - Aitor Karanka * 20 - Nicolas Hernandez * 25 - Pablo Mastroeni * 30 - Thiago Martins * 33 - Daniel Wasson Substitutes * 22 - Matt Jordan (GK) * 3 - Eric Denton * 7 - Jovan Kirovski * 9 - Clint Mathis * 10 - Alain Nkong * 14 - Fabrice Noel * 23 - Colin Clark Probably a 4-3-3/4-5-1: ------------Cannon Gargan-Petke-Karanka-Freeman -Wasson-Beckerman-Pablo --Peterson-Thiago-Niko Lining up against: ----Herron---Barrett Guerrero-Mapp-Plotkin ----Armas--Gutierrez -Brown-Sanneh-Robinson --------Fat Zach We have a huge advantage speed-wise against the Fire backline, but absolutely no size advantage.
Other games tonight [result] DC - LA 2nd half getting started and it's 1-1 NY - RSL It's 0-0 at halftime. RSL's new golden boy Stewart got a red in the 8th minute for a stupid foul. NYRB hasn't scorred but it doesn't look good for the non-royal stinky lakers [/result]
Well, we have a solution to our throng of central midfielders, at least for next week - Pablo will miss next game with yellow card suspension. That took a while, didn't it?
Nice to see Gargan being patient with Guerrero and just "escorting" him to the sideline and forcing him to play backward in the end. Gives his teammates time to organize and makes them play negatively. Just wanted to point it out since twinkle toes usually makes me cringe.
So far the game is very back and forth, I can't say that is to either team's advantage. Cannon just misses the clearance punch, 1-0 fire. Karanka was ballwatching instead of marking Robinson.
other games [result] @78' DC 2 LA 4 What did Yallop do??? @79' NYRB 4 RSL 0 RSL's defense has struggled to get clean sheets all year; they were down to 10 early. No suprise they've given up 3. [/result] Great work by Peterson to get the ball back from DG and then draw a foul. Rapids are having their chances. I can feel one coming. 40' Fire 1 Rapids 0
Am I the only one wondering what the heck the announcer is talking about with Freeman's front leg versus back leg on that tackle? He's making it sound like the back leg can somehow just be anywhere on a sliding tackle.
NYRB - RSL [result] 86' NYRB 6 RSL 0 TAKE THAT YOU fslERS THAT THOUGHT YOU HAD A ********ING DEFENSE!!! [/RESULT]
And the weird thing was, there wasn't even a card on the play. Can't say anything too positive about any player in particular. We've been average at best all over the pitch and could have a goal, we just need someone to step up. Beckerman's probably had the best half really.
The team is feeling the 255' of soccer they've played this week already. Nobody looks bad (Other than Gargan and Pablo's stupid yellow) but nobody looks good. We need to at least get a point out of this, if we don't FSL and LA will be only 3 points back and we'll only have 1 game in hand.
"make up your mind. noone good oh beckerman had a good half" It seems the announcer think it is a good game.... unlucky goal on set piece. we almost had two goals if they would of finished.... we could be REAL losing 6-0 with a man down.. it they lose and chivas loses we still are ok...
Because they suck and should be destroyed. 2nd half on the way at Toyota Park 47' Fire 1 Rapids 0 Rapids with a FK from the left side of the field. Nice FK except it goes through and no one touchs it. Come on!
"Pablo's stupid yellow" is a statement hardly unique to this week and those 225 minutes. Great recovery from Hunter Freeman on the Herron break. I think he got a boot to the shot to slow it down, as well.
