So the Rapids won their third preseason match. A 60 minute affair against the NY Metrostars. I know, I know, this has nothing to do with the regular season but it is nice to see some scoring happening.

Let's take a look at the lineup.

Cannon (Vallow 30'), Kotschau (Erush 30'), Borchers (Cann 30'), Mastroeni (Sullivan 30'), de la Torre (Taylor 30'), Henderson (Cila 30'), Powell (Juarez 30'), Beckerman (Pulido 30'), Chung (Kingsley 30'), Carrieri (Castellanos 30'), Spencer (Zizi 30').

Who is Erush? I recognize the rest as draftees, but Erush? Must be a random trialist but has anyone heard of him? Is he a Denver local?

Ok, answered my own question with a Google search on him. Looks like Michael Erush from Loyola Marymount University.

    Interesting scouting on him: http://www.infosportinc.com/michaelerush.html

    College Bio: http://lmulions.ocsn.com/sports/m-soccer/mtt/erush_michael00.html

He does have national team experience:
    1998 USA U-17
    1999 USA U-17
    2001 USA U-18

    Also, NOTE! Cila

Cila substitutes for Henderson. I assume that this is Jordan Cila, former U-17 somtimes starter. When & how did he join the Rapids. He has sorta fallen of the radar screen recently, What's up???

You don't have to be drafted to get onto a MLS team. Borchers was an undrafted camp "invitee". So this guy must have been invited to camp by Hanki for a trial period.

I think WJMarx's question -- and a very good one at that -- is why he wasn't part of the draft pool in either 2003 or 2004 or if he was, why he wasn't even taken in the 6th round.

I'm guessing Clia is Plan B in case Gregorio signs overseas? Having any sort of Plan B short of dressing Rapidman or Capone would be a refreshing change. :D

As for Erush, hmm. Given that he was undrafted, I have a feeling those scouting numbers are fairly unreliable, but if he's willing to take a developmental slot this season, it's all good.

Well I guess I can't answer that, I'm just working with the info I can get on Google.
