As Jason mentioned, we have three road matches in this season so far. Altitude IMO has done such a poor job. Now I think our broadcasting team in Marcelo and Mike Haynes will be an upgrade, the amount of coverage is pretty poor. Commercials are second rate if that, coverage is gawd awful, and any extensive coverage is none! So, what is the deal KSE? Will there ever be an improvement? Im better just reading the PBP report here on BS, can we see a improvement?!
Should post this stuff over on the Arsenal forums so that they can get a taste of who is buying their club.
Their fans should check out this forum. And if anyone thinks that it will be different for Arsenal who is a powerhouse in the EPL with a tradition of winning, think twice. The Avalanche used to be one of the premier teams in the NHL; they used to sell out every single game of the season (41 home games); they used to make the playoffs every year; they have won 2 stanley cups; and now they are 28th out of 30 and heading for last place in the NHL; they can't give tickets away; they have become the bunghole of the NHL. Thank you Stan. Just the Facts!!!
It may be hockey but he is right, Denver use to be the premier hockey city in the US.. now it's well..
By the same token, in the same time frame, the Nuggets went from one of the worst teams in history to the 2nd seed in the West. I don't think you will see an improvement in Altitude. Personally I don't find the coverage of the Nuggets, Avs and Mammoth to be significantly better. I'm betting it’s about as good as they want to make it. Also, I think this has been mentioned before, that they aren't going to increase the budget and the resulting production value if nobody is going to watch. I'm not sure what the ratings are like for a Rapids game, but I can't imagine it's all that high. If you are expecting ESPN, you are going to be disappointed for-ev-er.
You mean the self-proclaimed "Hockeytown"...? Look, anyone that doesn't know sports leagues in the US (and Canada) actually want their teams to rise and fall in the standings year after year are just nuts. The leagues are set up that way!! Free agency, collective bargaining, etc. And Colorado itself is pretty fickle when it comes to the sports teams. The people here can afford to be choosey too...let's see, besides the Rapids we have the Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets, Avalanche, Mammoth, Outlaws, Crush and who knows whatever other pro teams. Then we have the CU Buffs up the road, a pretty darn good Metro State basketball team right here, an outstanding college hockey team and division I basketball team at DU, and travel just a few miles south and you have what many consider to be some of the most entertaining college football and basketball played at the Air Force, and another top college hockey program at CC. What does all this have to do with the Rapids crappy broadcasts...well, uh, plenty! Let me think of something. Oh, yeah...competition! Let's face it, the Rapids are not the big dog on the leash in this state...they just aren't. They are not going to get the quality of television broadcast we think it deserves. I would like it to be better, and so would all of you. I just know we are probably fighting a battle here that isn't going to be heard, much less won. How many viewers do you really think are plopping down on their couches and firing up the Rapids game on their TV? That is a serious question...how many are really doing it, because I would bet it isn’t a whole lot. Not enough to get a broadcast team out to another city and do the game. The Rapids simply have to put a competitive, winning team on the field for a few years running before many people will take notice. When those people take notice and come to the home games, and then want to see the Rapids on the road, we will see a better quality in broadcasts.
I set TIVO to catch the rebroadcast of the match overnight on regular Altitude in hopes of maybe seeing a 'cleaner' version. Not to be, same re-buffering stops and pixelization, even worse served cold. The Crew's 'Fan Zone' commentators also didn't get any better, at least on the real 'Fan Zone' they have one amatuer representing each club, instead of two and zero.
Anyone else find it rather funny to see that continuous msg on the bottom of the screen " currently experiencing technical difficulties while some unnamed Rapid(s) players were on the pitch ??
I bet some people in Montreal take umbrage to Detroit even thinking they can lay claim to being Hockeytown. But hey it's playoff time!!!!
