Not trying to be negative, but I wonder why no German clubs wanted him. Or did he really want to come to the USA?

    Hoping he's a "difference maker".

Neat, another quasi attacker. So who's going to score, and how long before he passes the milking test.

My preferred formation (assuming everyone is healthy)

    Howard
    Hairston - Ford - Sjoberg - Da Fonte/Miller
    Boateng - Azira
    Badji------------------Aigner
    Gashi
    Doyle
Really need to sign a MLS-quality striker so Gashi can move back to wing and send Badji to the bench. That and an outside back and we'll have actually used this window well (except for taking too long).

Dude..........C'mon you know the answer to this........for his love of the green leaf and craft brew. Aigner was tired of German beer. After all, we are a great beer league team or play like one anyway ;) :D

Seriously, though Aigner may have had offers from the 2nd Bundesliga and while that league is arguably the top 2nd division in the world or right behind the English Championship, he may have aspirations to play in a top division. Soon to be 30 those options in the top division in German may have dried up. So why not take a shot in the US in a reputable and up-and-coming league? Why he chose CO is another story, though. For me, I am on the fence about this one. I just don't know much about him. I am going to take a wait and see approach. Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of waiting and seeing. Aigner needs to hit the ground running.

We've got all the time in the world. 2018 season doesn't start until March.

So we need to free up an international slot to put him on the roster. Wonder how we're going to do that.

Also the Rapids sent out the announcement so its official now.

Kind of funny to see the Rapids scout's bio who led the way on this - dream come true for this guy, considering Stefan Aigner was an impact player for EFC? ;)

Chris Zitterbart became the Rapids’ Scouting Coordinator at the start of the 2016 season. He assists the Director of Scouting and Player Recruitment Mitch Murray, Sporting Director Pádraig Smith and the Director of Soccer Claudio Lopez in player recruitment and scouting. Previously he served as the Equipment Coordinator beginning at the start of the 2014 season, assisting the first team support staff on all aspects of the team’s daily operations. He originally joined Colorado ahead of the 2013 season as an intern, before becoming a part-time assistant later in the season.

A native of Lockport, New York, Zitterbart played collegiate soccer first at Niagara County Community College, where he studied Business Administration, and then at Slippery Rock University, where he graduated with a degree in Sport Management. He was also the head coach of the Slippery Rock High School JV team in 2012. An avid fan of Eintracht Frankfurt of the German Bundesliga, Zitterbart started the club’s U.S.-based supporters’ group, called EFC USAdlers. He is fluent in German and can speak basic French and Dutch.

A "considerations to be named later" trade. And somewhere in the minor leagues Kevin Costner is shuffled around

A signing? From Germany? The dance of joy is not appropriate for this news, so...

On the plus side he's been part of a relegation battle so he knows how to play on mediocre teams.

Watching his highlight video on the Rapids website...a couple goals were Doyle style headers of a cross and a corner kick. Another couple were from build up play where he was given the ball in front of goal. Unless they have another signing coming to help get him the ball, I don't see this as the impact signing we needed.

I was wondering if that was part of the appeal. Wasn't 1860 Munich his boyhood club? He's in shock from the double relegation of his boyhood club, sees the Rapids' record and gasps, agent reassures him "no relegation! and pot is legal!"

Like many people who post here, I am not convinced that Aigner alone is enough to make a significant impact on the attack. Hopefully in addition to technical & tactical skills he has passion for the game and something to prove in the MLS.

I also hope that he isn’t getting DP level money.

Not sure that I like a 3 1/2 year contract when he’s about 30 years old, would have preferred a a little less with an option for more. I do like the fact there was no transfer fee.

It will be interesting to see how the Rapids work getting to the right number of international players. Besides selling Juan Ramírez could the sell or trade Williams? Is Castillo close to getting a green card?

Now, if the Rapids go out and sign Aron Jöhannsson and Kwadwo Poku I’ll be feeling better about the attacking potential of the Rapids :).

And no, signing Aigner isn't going to get me to renew my season tickets.

Well there goes 2018, seriously why do they over pay for marginal talent?

So is this it for the transfer window: Sjoberg resigned and Aigner signed?

I'm psyched. Hopefully Pablo uses him wisely. Our midfield needs improvement and he sounds like an upgrade.
(fingers crossed). Now to find a #10.
