Just got off the phone with the Rapids to put a deposit down on my season tickets for next season. If you received a renewal form and letter it clearly states that you are guaranteed 2002 prices for your 2003 seats. This is actually not the case.

Since I took advantage of the deal they had this year for sections 129 and 124, the supporters sections, I'm not subject to the guarantee. I will not be receiving my seats for the $100 I paid this year. Instead, they increased 60 freakin' percent to $160.

Now, it's not the money because $160 is not that much for the season, but to state, in writing one thing, and then state another is just bad business. They may be gaining $120 from me for next season but they are losing $200 from my two friends who will not be renewing because of this. Seems like pretty good business to me to lose $80.

    This is freakin' amatuer.

I must have really hit a nerve because I just got an email saying that I will, in fact, receive my tickets for 2002 prices. They need to get their act together over there.

Oh!!!!!!! you mean, you're not happy with with the "organization"? Why am I so shocked!?

Plus, I can't believe they wouldn't honor something they put down in black and white?

I too know people that are very sour, and these seems to be reoccurring thing too! I've known people that as far back as '98 tell me, they were original season ticket owners and then wouldn't be renewing and although I do my fair share of bitching, I tried to convince them otherwise, and their main gripe everytime has been the lack of respect and overall near-sightedness of the organization. Now, there are some great people in that office, that do everything they can to make you happy, and I appreciate those people and their efforts more than you know. But, the broad decisions that are made, and I'm assuming they come from higher levels, are just piss-poor... Fiasco's with ticket pricing is just one of many...

    Joey,

I think the deal is that some people like the River Ratz and some others actually paid 2001 prices for their 2002 tix i.e.- $100. (a price I'm pretty sure nobody else got, and is pretty ************ing good)

So when the FO says they will guarantee you 2002 prices, that's exactly what they are doing, you paid the 2001 price for your 2002 tix. Now you are going to pay 2002 prices ($160 a price I'm pretty sure nobody else will get, and once again is pretty ************ing good) for your 03 tix.

That's the way I percieve it.

Good for the Rapids if you ask me.

The people who used to get a season ticket for $100 were treated like scum and told to like it because of the price being given to them. The smartest thing the Rapids could do is eliminate these rediculous prices and the cheap K-Mart people that go with them. It's a freakin' loss leader and pisses off fans paying full fare.

Just as long as if you pay a reasonable fare, the Rapids promise to treat you with respect. If this doesn't happen, then the Rapids will go away...

So my bottom line is I'll be ignoring complainers who pay $100 for a season. If there's someone paying $200 for a season and has complaints, then there's a real issue.

My only complaint is that I paid something like $500+ for a pair of season tickets but didn't get the prefered parking or whatever you call it. Not really a complaint, just an annoyance.

You mean you didn't get it included, or you didn't get it offered at all?

I'm paying $912 for three seats near the half line ($304 for each adult seat) and, while I didn't get the parking pass thrown in, it was offered for $10 a game. Total outlay is $1,072 before the first beer.

My wife and I take our daughter (she's 2), but bought the third seat as an Adult seat so I had the flexibility to take other people if the weather/environment wasn't good to have a toddler at. While the Rapids said "Kids Under 5 Are Free" for 2002, that meant "if they sit on your lap". For 2003, I'm told that season ticket holders can get an actual ticketed seat for free (for under 5, or half-price for 5-16 I think), which is even more flexible and should get more butts in seats.

I'm not sure where this puts me in the spectrum of BigSoccer Rapids fans, though. While I don't fall into the "paint-your-face-and-get-crazy" crowd of supporters, I'm not in the Soccer Mom (or Dad) crowd either. I play, I coach, and I love to watch. :) RapidMan doesn't get on my nerves except when he's in my way during play, the announcer is a goof-ball but is easy enough to ignore, and I hate the PB & J thing like the rest of civilization.

My only real complaint with the Rapids organization is the spotty communication. While I seem to get every email, the postal mailings are hit-or-miss.

Well this was for the last year at the Old stadium but I didn't get an offer or inclusion for parking benefits. Keep in mind, thats when parking really sucked. It's not too bad now that they opened the new lot.

Yeah, I do think the Invesco parking is much better than it ever was at Mile High. When they offered the $10/game passes for this year, I thought twice. Then I figured that, while I could save a few bucks below the $10, there's something to be said for parking right NEXT to the stadium.

The only game this year where I wished that I'd parked further away was July 4th. It was about 90 minutes or so before we could move at all. :)
