Rev/Rapids Game Thread Do the Rapids have it in them to beat the Rev or will it be another sad day in Denver? Sure hope Hanki has the boyz in shooting drills ...
Re: Rev/Rapids Game Thread I'll be honest. If the Rapids are killed by the Revolution, I don't see that as being a sad day.
If the Rapids are destroyed and don't get a new coach, then the sad day will be Sunday or Monday, whenever the bad news is revealed. Otherwise, this Saturday is Jameson's Night. Those of you at the home game against New England last year might know what I'm talking about. Cause hell, I certainly don't remember it.
Last year when we visited you with our Coaches job on the line you won 5-2 and we got a new coach and a new lease on life. I sure hope we can return the favor. The only way I see the Revs losing is for them to come out flat from overconfidence. This Rev squad is strong and deep at all positions. Revs 2--Rapids 0. You get a new coach before the return match in two weeks. George
If the revs come out flat and overconfident, the worst they suffer is a 0-0 tie. We couldn't score if you pulled your goalie. All optimism aside, talk of a new coach, any tactics employed whatsoever, and missing pieces of the player puzzle have now consumed the board as no one seems to think we even have a remote chance of winning. I myself enjoyed watching the young players out there in the DC game and would like to see how far they can develop this year. So wish list for this game: push Beckerman in front of Trembley or whoever else gets out there in the midfield so Becks can try to create, start Kingsley, start Schmidt and Carrieri up top, run Rizo out there. It is time for Hankinson to admit that his fate is sealed and start playing the younger players to see if there is promise for next year. Do it for the team, Yoda. Help out the next coach. He will need some idea of what is there to build on and what has to be changed.
Yeah, I get the feeling that even though we'll be at the game, we might need to read post-game reviews the next day to figure out what happened.
So when do we start showing up in paper bags? Also this we should we be cheering for more goals against us or for a win? I've always believed in playing for a win, no matter what the consequenses. But I'm really kind of torn at this point.
I don't know either... It's kind of a win-win situation... Hankinson has got to go, but I just can't get it out of myself to pull for a loss. I pray we win, and Hankinson still gets the sack! This truly is absurd! the most loyal and ardent supporters of this club, are hoping for a loss! How a coach can't win with this club is beyond me... Something tells me that we're going to have a break-out game, large crowd, and a good voice in 127...
Bags!? I've been looking for a nice Black & Blue striped one, or something that can be altered for such an effect....... Wednesday, the 25th? RLH
It that was the reason there wouldn't be any Rev Fans left at all With all the losing seasons the Revs have had and all the bad coaches we've has to DIS out of Boston with our protests we would all be dead. Please remember that the Revs have the lowest overall winning percentage in the league. We really do know what you all are going through and are truly empathetic. George
Probably Staring Look's like an interesting probably - certainly more focus on offense with a 3-4-3. IMO - Rizo is a good fit as a left outside mid. Also, if Henderson is ineffective in 1H then sub Kingsley at halftime. D - Kotschau, Frasier, Hart M - Rizo, Chung, Berkerman, Henderson F - CC, Spenny, Schmidt
Halftime SETH F*IN TREMBLEY Spencer Chung For once, it's the OTHER team that looks out to sea on offense. The radio crew sucks, but one line at the end of the half was classic: 'That'll do, Rapids..that'll do.'
is it on the radio.I didn't see it on the site.. what are the call letters again? i am watching on package but was curious as to what the announcers would be saying now. they really cut them up on wed
Good Job Seth Trembley!!!! I told you guys so, nah nah nah nah nah!!!!! Just wait, he's gonna bag a few more with limited minutes too!!! He's got the freaking force.
No Negatives This Time - Yeah What I didn't like: - Parking farther away than normal What I liked: - Winning... - Not getting shut out. - Quality finishes - Rizo was excellent when he came in, I think the team is better with him on the field - Carrieri's goal should be goal of the week. - Many many quality chances, unlucky to not win 7-1 - The work rate. - Spencer's header - remember when he used to do that, we won games then. - Spencer's assist, and a quality finish from Seth - Chung finding space, a great pass and a quality finish This Just In. - Dallas Lost, at this second, the Rapids are in 3rd place in the West, Are You Kidding Me! - Never mind the number of games the other teams have played - Oh well, 3rd place for about an hour, 4th isn't bad though, yeah I know Dallas has 2 games in hand.
I must have slipped into some type of comma within that last 2 days because that was the game I imagined only in dreams and hallucinations. That setup from Spencer was perfect. And for those who weren't there to see it (but should have been) I'll try to decribe. Basically just like any other attack into the box, which was sure to end in a way-off-fram-shot that we seem to have perfected. Except, this time instead of passing to the middle of the box, Spencer looked back, saw at least 3 Rapids players rushing to the 18, and laid it off for Trembly to meet in perfect stride. I was watching and Spencer could have easily and justifiably(sp?) cross the ball into the box but he hestitated and laid it off. And if that goal didn't look great enough, there was the perfect volley from CC off a great cross my Kingsley. I didn't wear my Jersey tonight for the first time and this happens. What a waste of $90 since I won't be wearing it again until we lose.
Un BEE LEEV ABLE!!!!! That was totally unbelievable!!!! In my wildest dreams I couldn't have imagined the Rapids playing so well. New England was fortunate that the score wasn't 6-1 or worse. It is hard to single out individuals. Everyone was great!!! Seth had enormous energy, and kept getting up every time he got knocked down. Spencer's pass, Kingsley's cross could both be good for instructional videos. While many were surprised to see Crawford starting instead of Schmidt, I think he did a great job, both on defending and on pushing the ball forward. Carrieri's goal was major league. It would have been up for Goal Of The Week in any league including the EPL. Kingsley shows unbelievable pace. When he comes in, the speed of the whole team increases. Chung and Chris both ran their butts off as usual, but even more so tonight. This was a great start. Another match or two to build confidence, and who knows what might happen. I think Tim is safe now for a goodly while. I know that the Revs were missing Taylor Twellman, but we were missing ZiZi, Pablo, Jeff, and Nat. I can't wait for the next match. I wish it was tomorrow. Way To Go Raps!!!!!
I am curious what people think was different about tonight? Some of my thoughts: - The Rapids seemed to find a ton of space in the final third. - Typically, it seems the Rapids are playing 1 or 2 against 6 in that area, tonight it seemed almost the other way around. - Were the Rapids moving and passing the ball that well or did the Rev's take the night off? - One thing is the back line of the Revs is smaller and not as physical as some. - Llamasa, didn't seem to have much of a game tonight). Oh and one more thing I liked: No yellow cards. Crawford lost his man a few times and "Pablo'd" him but not blantant enough for a yellow.
