Sarvas would be a great pick up. He fits the bill for the type of player we need. Skilled, experienced, and proven in MLS. As a bonus he's not terribly expensive salary wise.
This article written yesterday seems to imply that Sarvas would get a pay increase in 2015, but I imagine it'd still be below DP level, which still makes it a good deal.
Anyone seen a crow around here? It's my lunch time. So would this mean that argentine loanee is not going to happen.
Allocation money and allocation rank swap, not like we would ever use that allocation rank to bring in a difference maker.
They just did if true...his name is Marcelo Sarvas. W/O him LA would not have won the Cup last year. All the LA supporters are freaking out at the news. Some very positive news if it holds up. BTW. I new here. Season Ticket holder and lurker on this board for a little!
So we help LAG dump Buddle's salary, now we help them again dump salary, clear senior spot and get higher allocation to go get Sascha K. We sure PB works for Rapids?
It's not really fair to compare the two. Sarvas is a better player than Buddle. He actually has something left in the tank and he isn't the kind of player that has gotten carried his entire career like Buddle did. He was the backbone of the Galaxy midfield last year. LA fans didn't give a shit when they sold off Buddle's fat ass, but they are litteraly freaking out that Sarvas is leaving. This objectively is a good pickup for us. He is a very sold MLS caliber player that brings a wealth of veteran leadership and experience.
It appears to be official. Very nice addition! If we can somehow acquire a solid option up front, I think this could shape up to be a acceptable off season after all. Would you rather have Sascha K? I wouldn't. Not sure why you'd see this as a bad move. Regardless, we both know MLS would fix the rules to get Sascha to a favored club anyhow.
As an LA fan, I came to say congratulations on getting Marcelo Sarvas. A true class act, he gives his all every game. I am truly sad to see him go. If we don't use the allocation slot for someone exceptional, this will have been a terrible move.
This pleases me. Not enough to give KSE any of my money yet this season, but its leaning in the right direction.
Boom! How did I miss this?? I guess with all the draft hoopla I didn't bother to look at "other" Rapids news. This is huge. Sarvas is exactly what I wanted in terms of play, character, and leadership. Don't let the age, 33, fool you. The guy is a winner and a perfect two-way midfielder. Sarvas will relieve a ton of pressure off Powers' shoulder. I assume this is all Pablo. Sarvas must have made an impression on Pablo in their short time as teammates. If so, big kudos to Pablo. I don't think I've ever said that during his coaching tenure. Sarvas, IIRC, did count as an international roster spot in 2014. However, you would think there's reason to believe, with 3 years in the league, he may be line for a Greencard. I would assume LA (and now Colorado) has at least had that conversation with him.
Sarvas is a great pickup. Anyone know if we can trade this new spot for more useful players, target forward maybe!
It may or may not. It does make you wonder, though. I will say in terms of international roster spots, with the addition of Sarvas, there are two spots still available --- if my match is correct. We have 8 total, again if my match is correct, which are currently occupied by Sanchez, Torres, Knight, Eloundou, and Brown. So that would leave two available and guys like Sarvas and Brown have to be pretty close to meeting permanent alien status. I hope the club has or had those discussions.
