Rapids hope to beat Portland and be close to sealing up a home playoff game (top 4 seed) Saturday night at the Dick. Add intelligent and unintelligent thoughts here. I'm looking forward to tasting beer beforehand as well.

Great little pre-game read by Mr. Fleming: https://www.richardflemingmedia.com/post/match-preview-is-this-the-game-when-postseason-secured
2-1 win, goals by Rubio and Trusty. Portland's offense has been a bit better than ours but our defense is much better. The Timbers are coming off a crushing defeat at home to their rival Vancouver, and I don't think you bounce back from that by coming to altitude on short rest. Colorado hasn't had to travel and had a couple of core guys (Abubakar, Namli) get some rest on Wednesday. I think that's enough to make the difference in this one as the Rapids book their spot in the playoffs. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2021/10/rapids-have-3rd-chance-to-clinch.html
Interesting tidbit from this piece in that Namli was going to start, but was withheld due to an ankle injury. I would bet he'll start if he close to 100%. And I would think Galván will start as well along with Rubio. Hopefully, Rosenberry is ready to go.
My biggest hope in this game is a 4-3-3….please Fraser! Please play the 4-3-3… If he does, I would go with: Back line of Esteves Trusty Abubakar Rosenberry Midfield of Price Acosta Kaye Front three of Galvan Rubio Barrios Rotate players at the 60th min or so with any combination of Warner, Namli, Bassett, Lewis, Mezquida, and Shinyashiki/Badji - pending on game script. Final sub for injury or to bring in Mr Closer himself - Moor. But honestly. My biggest wish (aside from the win obviously) is the 4-3-3. We have to take advantage of this home game.
The last time we played Portland at home, #SnowClasico3 happened 🥶 pic.twitter.com/JR0rXl6wug— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) October 23, 2021 No snow in the forecast tonight, but hopefully another fun match!
Brewfest at the Dick beforehand - so my usual smart post game analysis might be sub par. I'll predict a 3-1 win for no reason but I'm optimistic.
Huge goal right at the end of extra time. Up to that point the game has been kind of….fine. Neither team particularly good or bad. Feels like the kind of game where 2nd half subs will make a big difference. Looking forward to seeing the spark that Barrios and Lewis bring off the bench. Big goal at the end though. Let’s see this one all the way home!
Rapids doing a great job of pinning Portland. Finally break through right at the half. Let’s drive the nail deeper this 2nd half
While they havent created many chances. Rapids doing well keeping the ball and not letting Portland build any attacks.
Minnesota just drew LAFC which means we clinch a playoff spot with a draw, and a home playoff match with a win, Galaxy loss, and Vancouver loss or draw
Galvan with his 2nd beauty of an assist tonight. But remember guys, Galvan doesn’t deserve to be on the 22 under 22 because reasons….reasons mostly because the MLS writers don’t pay attention to our guys. Heck of a night so far by Braian
Ok, I woldn't really object if I were wrong.... I could handle 3-0.... As long as Mr. Galvan provides another assist....
Lot of MOTM candidates. I’ll go with the unsung performance by Wilson. He was good today. (My penance for giving him heck all season.)
Honestly, this felt very similar to all of our recent games. Better team for most of the game. On the front foot applying constant pressure. Amazing the difference it makes when you convert! Feels good. Solid win. Portland largely toothless all night. How much of that was travel on short rest…and how much of that was us making it difficult for them? Either way, I’ll take it. Solid performance all around boys.
Clinched a playoff spot tonight but because of the Galaxy's comeback against Dallas we did not officially clinch a home playoff match. However the only way we don't host in the first round is if we lose our last 3 games, Portland wins their last 3 games, AND the Galaxy wins the last 3 games. tl;dr - Barring a miracle the Rapids will host a playoff game after tonight's results
Weird stat, curtesy of the Rapids: Colorado have now clinched their last three playoff berths (2021, 2020, 2016) with clean sheet victories over the Portland Timbers.
