PBP: Rapids "home" versus SKC, 7PM, Saturday, 8/29/2020

First of all, are the matches definitely going to happen?

If it does....predicting a 2-1 Rapids win. Not based on any concrete analysis, just feel that we'll win.

 

A couple of teams have said they're playing but I don't think we've seen an official statement. Nothing from Colorado or KC. But the NBA just officially announced the playoffs will restart tomorrow and I think all the MLB games are going on today for Jackie Robinson day.

1-1 draw. Goal by Namli. I'm not ready to get back on the horse and believe the Rapids are going to win but I can hope they can play KC to a draw. Is there a good reason to believe that? Probably not. But they did look vulnerable in Orlando and only some very helpful calls got them the win. Their defense isn't great so its really a matter of if we can keep some pressure in the attack and not get overrun like we did against FSL.

So...is Trusty just not as good as we were sold on, since this is two games in a row he’s lost the starting job to Wilson? I had expected him to have more than a bench job with his price tag?

Namli - Played out of position in a majority of games, the same out of position that is supposedly one the reasons he wanted to leave Russia

Abubakar - Played quite poorly in recent games

Rapids shape is a bit different tonight. Acosta is pushing very far forward and there's frequently a gap between Acosta and Price.

 

I see this is our annual "We bleed burgundy at home except for once a year to goose road kit sales" game....

 

Yarbrough takes a ball off Shelton's foot to stop an almost certain goal. Won't count as a save but just as important.

 

Lalas got a bit lucky and the KC forward played through a push in the box. If he had gone down it was a pretty obvious PK.

We've been keeping some possession more recently, but we don't look like we'll ever score
