I think Rapids have great uniforms and not boring like some teams :)

    Jarek I totally disagree.

The new unis are VERY boring, not to mention a lame ripoff of Inter Milan. Besides San Jose has the same colors.

Green ruled and it was original. When I turned on the TV and saw green I knew it was THE Rapids.

Green was taken out due to stupid marketing. Typical MLS who can't decide team colors for once.

What I would have done: cobalt blue and sky blue stripes, green and black stripes, or sky blue jerseys. No Xeroxing other club's kit.

Just a memo, Coventry in England wears sky blue with dark blue pinstripes. As for green and black, Santos will every now and then wear black and green. So that ends your originality.

Did Bayern Munich and Arsenal copy each other because the both wear red and white? Or did Birmingham and Everton copy each other because they both wear blue with white trim? Or how about West Ham and Aston Villa?

I like the kits, they have a more classic look and not a "newer" look that companies like Nike, Puma, Kappa, and Reebok make.

It is impossible to think up a soccer uniform that hasn't been tried in one form or another. Ask the San Jose Clash about that one. Remember their opening season uniforms? Those were the worst.
The current Rapids home jersey is nice and classic. Who cares if Inter wears it. The old green Kappa jerseys were bad because the players looked like green been commercials or something.

I'd like to see brown and black stripes, with brown and white for the road.

Santos Laguna's primary jersey is green/white hoops. But they occaisionally wear a really kick-ass green/black hooped kit.

Here's a sneak preview of the design the Rapids will use next season.. Almost exactly.

Of course they're not as nice as the Chivas USA ones will be which will be modeled after these. They couldn't decide on a two color scheme..

This is the MLS so don't be surprised if we see the Rapids in orange and gray in 2008, then change to lime and kelly green in 2012 then change to red and blue in 2017...

The Rapids were green for a very long time. By switching to the wannabe Inter kits (100% marketing oriented), the team lost ALL its identity.

To me the Rapids became mere Inter wannabes. It wasn't the REAL Rapids anymore. It's Colorado New Inter Rapids.

Some teams have changed their kit colors on several occasions, like Bayer Munich for example.

You know Arsenal used to wear yellow and blue as their main colors, but they changed to the red and white for their home kits. Have the Gunners lost their "identity" too?

Do you really hate the colors that bad? Couldn't someone had made the argument they had been ripping off Celtic when we wore green and white?

Ideally, I wish we had kept the green. I would've loved the current vertical stripes idea but with green and black, and as opposed to plain white on the road, green and white stripes - essentially just reaplcing the black stripes with white.

In fact, I think that's what we ought to do with the current blue and black scheme. How about blue and white stripes with black shorts? That would look pretty sweet.

Not that I care a whole ton ... but the team shouldn't have dropped green. It was unique ... our current colors are so typical and boring that I don't even give much thought to our jersey's anymore.

I think you guys should have 3 main colors. Blue, Black & Green. Your jersey would be alternating vertical stripes of those 3. It would be pretty cool and original. Then you have the old school mixed in with old school. I would also like to see you wear the old school Puma uni's from the '96 season the next time you play KC. We could we the old '96 black mesh with the swirling rainbow on it. That would be cool for one game a year.

    1. You are all missing the point

    2. I have the answer

Now, having cleared that up, a few comments.

Please, let's not encourage them to change colors again, I just got the damn shirt for Christmas and I want to wear it more than one season without having to clog my wishlist with more expensive clothing this year.

Next, GREEN doesn't look good with my complexion, and it's not exactly slimming, so screw going back to GREEN. I'm pretty, and my clothes need to be pretty too, if not actually pretty new.

Finally, as a jersey authority of some renown in the country of Ugottabkidin', I have to say that all teams have learned to change colors every few years to increase jersey revenues. All national teams have quickly followed suit with new uni's for every tourney.

    'Nuff said.

    Cheers,

    BilFish

How ironic will it be when FC Dallas takes the field next year in their new green uniforms?

I love the new uniforms. I did like the green. You knew it was the Rapids.
Not sure what that is worth because I liked the Colorado Caribous uniform. I would love to find a link to a photo of those. For those who are under 33 or so, words can not do them justice. You need to see them.

Who has a photo of link to one?

'Nuff said my @$$. We had a unique identity nation-wide in MLS with the sea of blues and reds. Crew has a great identity (too bad their team sucks). Rapids had a great identity until Counce f-ed that up. I hope he rots in he||! Bring back our identity. Bring back the green is some form (even a 2nd kit would make me happy). But clearly, Counce and the Rapids could give a sh|t about what I think.

Re: Rapids have WORSE uniforms than a lot of teams ALSO

Wow, Zar, I'm surprised it took you 23 posts before you posted in this thread.

Officially, I would probably lean toward the likes. I didn't care for the green skin tight jerseys and would have preferred green/black vertical stripes.

Well, then you have a problem with your fixation on Inter. Why don't you expand your horizons and realize that black-blue stripes are not owned by Inter Milan. A lot of teams wear that same design, even in the Italian leagues! It's like what, do you think the world only consists of 20 big clubs, and that is it?

If Colorado were real Inter wanna-be's, then they would be PLAYING like them. At the moment, they have similar uniforms, and that is it. And I agree with the initial poster that they are very sharp looking.

Every single MLS team has uniforms and colors that are very similar to lots of teams all over the world. You don't hear fans complaining about that.

For what it's worth, I am sorry that your front office decided to change from green. Other than that, geez, your hyperbole and invective is really fvcking annoying.
