Wow, real quick turnaround. Now I really get why they flew straight to LA from Houston. Will Acosta finally be available? How much squad rotation will their be for both teams? (Bassett, Rosenberry and Trusty seem to have played a ton of minutes this season.) For the Houston match I predicted a 5-4-1 formation for the Rapids. Clearly - and thankfully - I was wrong. Still, it seems likely that for this match Fraser will be more conservative in his approach. Greg Vanney says Chicharito remains OUT for LA Galaxy's game against the Colorado Rapids tomorrow but is "making progress". Chicharito hasn't played since June 26. 1-1 draw, goal by Barrios. The Galaxy have a slightly better offense but a much worse defense than us. Both teams are facing big rivalry games this weekend and will likely be rotating players. I think neither side is going to want to overextend themselves midweek and will play conservatively, eventually settling for splitting the points. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2021/08/battle-of-top-teams-in-la-la-land.html
Namli is the only Rapid listed as unavailable in the game notes but I'm betting come game time Acosta will still be out due to protocols.

Probably could have had a second PK there but I doubt even the VAR was going to give 2 in the first 20 minutes.
A third PK possibility (the weakest of the three) apparently set Fraser off, who got a yellow card for his troubles.
Chippy end to the half. A better ref/VAR combo probably has the Rapids up on the scoreboard and the Galaxy down a man.
Even Cobi Jones and his play-by-play announcer agreed that the 2nd non-call on Lewis possibly/probably could’ve (should’ve) been another PK for the ‘Pids. I think you were right previously… the only reason the VAR booth didn’t intervene on the 2nd one is because it had already intervened a few minutes earlier. Lame all around. The failure by one ref (missed call) compounded by the failure by a second ref (VAR booth).
How great would Lewis be if he could finish? Three breakaways, but he’s playing for PKs instead of goals. But he is quick. Decent half, but the boys were tiring at the end of the half. Fraser needs to make good subs.
.@Julian__Araujo said "NOPE!" 🚫 pic.twitter.com/ofCNHukFUb— Major League Soccer (@MLS) August 18, 2021 PK, all day everyday. And you’re absolutely right. Potentially a DOGSO red on the goalie too. And MLS Twitter is promoting it as a goal line clearance by Araujo. An easy goal line clearance too, because Lewis was cleaned out and basically shot it from his butt. Sadly the refs only have the balls to give Fraser a yellow on that sequence. Go figure. MLS can’t stand having their pretty little darling LA Galaxy have issues. Rant over.
BTW, we're holding even with the Galaxy 60 minutes into a game on the road, on 72 hours rest, without Acosta, Namli, Rubio, Barrios, or a regular LB yet, and with questionable refereeing.
BTW, right before the goal Shinyashiki had come on for Kaye. Looks like Beitashour is getting ready to come in, 83rd minute.
Mezquida getting ready to come in. We get one extra sub window because the Galaxy had to use a concussion sub in the first half. 5 minutes of stoppage
