This game is slowing to standstill. I'd be disappointed the Rapids aren't trying to stomp on them like they did with us a couple of season ago, but I suspect with the two games a week schedule in the this weird Covid-19 season, conserving energy is probably the right thing.
Rapids were all over this tonight - it's amazing how a team can play when they commit to every ball.....
Wow! What an unexpected result! Those two quick goals by Rubio were huge! And we had several other great shots on goal saved in the first half. I thought Acosta played really well in this game. The passing and movement into spaces by the players seemed really on point. Loved to watch that game and see all those goals!
Guys... THE RMC IS COMING HOME TO COLORADO!!!!! WE JUST SPANKED FSL SOOOO HARD ON THEIR HOME TURF 5. 5...FIVE TO ZERO.
Just got back in, saw the score, and did a simultaneous WOO HOOO! / WHAT THE HELL / Does the website have the score backwards??

I'll be honest, as I was sitting down to watch the game I was just hoping they would show up and not humiliate themselves. I even said to myself I'd turn the TV off if we were down by 2 at the half. I didn't think this team had that in them. Hats off lads. That's the best result this team has made in years. It wasn't the "Rapids Way", it was the "Proper Way". There is still a long ways to go, but that has restored some faith for me in this team. I only wish it happened in a full stadium.
Also, one of them said about Rubio, "He's a slippery little otter." And before the match, one of them pointed out that he hasn't scored this season.
Don't even know where to begin. My VPN workaround is working well and I couldn't be more pleased right now . For about 90+% of the match it looked like the Rapids were a man up, and this includes the time before the deserved red card to Douglas Martínez in the 64th minute. The only time the Rapids slowed play down was right after the red card. They were patient and methodical. They didn't need a goal at that point and it felt like the right thing to do. And of course it paid off! They were very quick to get the ball through midfield and into dangerous spots. Ever few minutes I found myself welling "great ball," or "smart play!" In an emotional sense, Rubio's early goal loosened the team up and they just took off. And he never gives up with his high pressure, which creates more chances for the Rapids. Bassett played the #10 role more or less and he seemed to have a good sense of what to do with the ball and kept things moving. And boy did the Rapids keep things moving! They were finding each other and the speed of play made it very difficult for FSL to check and slow down the attack. This was Abubakar's best match this season and perhaps as a Rapid. He was proactive and had good position all the time. He blocked at least two shots. There were a few shaky moments in the back, but there was a lot of covering for each other which limited FSL clean chances. Yes, there was the miss communication between Vines and Yarbrough. FSL ended up with a grand total of two shots on goal. Our comment after Dunseth (?) stated no one could see this coming, was yes, we could. Maybe not the five goals, but over the last three matches they had been getting chances, but just not putting them away. Bassett looked comfortable in his role tonight. It will be interesting to see if he continues in this role. This was a great game for him and the team, but he's building to it with recent performances. Jeremy Kelly looked like Messi during his slalom run and layoff to Bassett. Namli's moves that got him to the end line on his assist to Vines was also scintillating. Galván was really interesting to watch. He scored on his first touch after coming in for Namli, should have scored again and attemted a bike kick in the box. All that was nice, but watching his play off the ball really got my attention. He was always moving to put himself into position to receive a pass in space. Additionally, he had a good feel for the match - when to push the ball and when to be conservative with his passing. If he continues to do that he'll be making a case for a lot of playing time.
Is this the first time in Rapids' history where two homegrown players scored in the same match? Highlights: One we won’t forget anytime soon. pic.twitter.com/4UmEBdoaqH— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) September 13, 2020
Another weird note on tonight. #Rapids96 now positive on goal differential this season and have jumped LAFC in the standings. They're just one point below a playoff spot.— Jake Shapiro (@Shapalicious) September 13, 2020
I seem to vaguely recall a game back in 2014, a 5-1 thumping of the Impact, where both Serna and O’Neill scored. Edit: I was right Dillon did score. Just not that Dillon..... it was Powers!

Jeremy Kelly went through seven defenders to produce this goal.He beat his mark, passed a shifting mid, split two MFs, then drew 3 defenders to him, and dished.Remarkable for anyone - but for a rookie RB's first assist? Bonkers.#Rapids96 pic.twitter.com/kYlbAZv5Gk— Soccer Rabbi (@soccer_rabbi) September 13, 2020
