Since it's the offseason, I thought we could post some potential Rapids lineups with the players that we *know* will be back next season. Here's mine:

    Roberto Kotschau Thor Frasier(?) Stewart(?)
    ----------------------Pablo---------------------------

    Chung----------------------------------------Hendo

    ----------------------Powell-------------------------

    --------Spenny/CC-----------Healthy Zi Zi

I think that Powell could be effective as an A-Mid and he seems to be willing to fight to get the ball back so it could potentially relieve pressure on Pablo and the backline; of course this is all speculation since we haven't really seen what Powell, Zi Zi or Stewart can do...
    Thoughts?

I think A-mid is a good spot for Powell as well, his passing is superb...

ZiZi must be a starter or atleast play 60 minutes...

I like Beckerman as the D-mid, with Pablo pairing with Nat in the back, Stewart was probably one of the biggest blows to this team, he could have relieved us of the Wes Hart saga, and will hopefully do that next year.

However, if we feel the need to have 3 strikers, sit Beckerman's a$$, move Powell back to D-mid, and put Spenny at A-mid...

I like the way this team is shaping up, I wonder if Hanki will f*** it up? :D

If we can stay away from knee injuries *knocks on wood* we look good.

    I like He's In Fashion's lineup (using 2 strikers)

edit to add...does that mean I'm In Fashion as well....

Sorry if that wasn't clear; I had Zi Zi paired with either Spenny or CC.

4-4-2 is definately the most effective pattern when played correctly.

My main question for this season is who steps in at right d, cause Hart sure didn't get the job done last year. If Hanki wants a wonder striker in the center midfield, move Chung there and put Zizi out on the wing. Most of Chung's goals come from the middle of the field anyway. Zizi's a much better target player on on the outside than Chung because of his height. I think CC and Spenny make a better striking pair jsut because CC reads Spenny's tricky passes much better than Zizi. IMO all three of them need to be on the field together (plus Chung of course).

Defense: Right - (Stewart?), Mid - Borchers & Pablo Left - Kotchau

Defensive Center Mid: Powell or Beckerman
Mid Wings: Right - Hendo Left - Zizi
    Attacking Center Mid: Chung

    Forwards: Spenny, CC

BTW-> If we could just get someone to f****** make the far post run, we're set...

Didn't the Chung as Attacking central midfielder already fail as an experiment??? Isn't that one of the things Tim tried at the beginning of the season last year?

That's why I like Zizi on the wing. (Well one of the reasons.) Go back and watch his video clips and look at where most of his goals came from last season.

Only because CC was moved out to cover the mid- wing and failed miserably in that position. IMO Chung has the ability to make that adjustment.

ZiZi on defense. He plays very well back there. I was impressed. We have enough fire power up front and he could always overlap on a counter attack.

Powell's precise passing ability along with his ablilty to hold onto the ball with confidence will be most beneficial to our attack.

I'll bet this works very well for a lineup.

    Cannon

    Kotchau Borchers ZiZi Stewart

    Beckerman Chung Powell Henderson

    Spencer CC

Perhaps ... but there is now way Pablo isn't going to start.

Zizi up front, Zizi at mid, Zizi on D.... Can't argue with any of them. That's one of the many reasons I really like the guy. He has the versatility to play anywhere and be effective, and at the very least, NOT be a liability. The question is, given the other talent on the team where will he be MOST effective? It'll be interesting to watch how the season progresses and discover where he gels.

    Cannon
    Zizi Pablo Borchers Kotschau
    Henderson Powell Beckerman Chung
    Carrieri Spencer

That should pretty much complete the posibilities for Zizi.
