Yeah, but they're also encouraging alcohol in large quantities before the game, that makes the sell SOOOOOOOOO much easier, not to mention maybe we can get the soccer moms to guzzle a bit and lighten up!
I think it's great! Why not ask all of us to get as many people out to the game as possible? I would rather sit with 16,000 than 6,000. It's not like playoff attendance has been great anywhere except for LA (don't know that it's really "great" but I think they had over 14,000 weds.). Why not get a couple beers in the belly and annoy the soccer mom's as much as they seem to annoy so many of the posters on this board??? I would love to see a hundred drunks screaming along with the Ratz in 129. I really prefer to see it all over the stadium but we know some uptight soccer mom from Highlands Ranch will have security in our faces 5 minutes into the game. Instead of getting tossed from the stadium I plan on joining the Ratz for the season finale!!!
Look beyond it. It's for an honorable cause. Of course, it'd also be nice if the Rapids took out some big ads in the papers and even advertised on the tv/radio or wherever. Do they do that btw?
Last I checked, the Rapids are already doing a pretty good job of spamming people themselves, without asking others. I appreciate the job that the front office does, but I'm tired of people complaining to me -- especially now that I have nothing to do with the team -- about how they get added to their email lists (repeatedly) without asking to be there in the first place. There's no such thing as honorable spam. On the flipside, this doesn't seem as insulting to a fan's intelligence when compared to the "letter from John Spencer" that was sent out last week.
Spam is opening my e-mail and seeing pornography (and never the good stuff!). Spam is getting hundreds of e-mails about how I can be a millionaire in 30 seconds. This is not real spam. Anyway, we're on a noble crusade here. We can't let a few "spam" victims get in the way of our mission.
It's not spam if you're sending it to someone you know! And I know everyone on my personal email list who I sent that to; I'm sure a few of them even appreciated the beer deal info.
Be careful using that word "crusade", it could be interpreted as a religious thing. You know how so many people are from those times they take those things personally. If I send that e-mail out, then we'll end up with more soccer moms from Highlands Ranch. I'll just make the calls and personalize it along with some arm twisting.
I don't see you keeping score of all of the more-than-negative posts I make. They're not exactly hard to find. Oh wait. YIPPPEEEE! I'm so exicted! The Rapids are looking for their fans to email-bomb everyone they know! Excellent, fantastic. We should do this every day! Ahem. Email spam is by definition "unsolicited email." The Rapidfire asked fans to send this email to "everyone you know" including co-workers and company vendors. They've also done so by providing a message for you to send out. Just because the receipient knows you doesn't mean it's not spam.
Spam by definition is a sort-of food product. I couldn't give an F what the dictionary definition of Spam is, assuming there is one. Moreover, we can safely assume that everyone is dying to find out this information. Call it what you want, but try to get everyone to go to the game.
It is a religious thing!!! It's a battle for the holy cup. The only thing that matters is that Galaxy do not defile the Holy Cup. We also need to get people out to see this religious contest! SPAM EVERYONE. Buy a freaking e-mail list and send 1 million e-mails out!!
