Rapids play at sports in Kansas City tomorrow at 7pm. Put your thoughts here. I’m going to miss his one live but will watch on delay. Both teams are good.
The Rapids are 11 points and 2 games clear of 7th place. It’s a good bet we make the playoffs. Based on how the season has been going, we nab at least a top 3-4 seed finish with a good chance for top 2. We talk a lot about statement games. If we win, it’s a wake up call to the league. Regardless of any statement game status, if you’re looking long term this could very easily be a playoff preview. Barring something insane happening, KFC is going to be a playoff contender. So too will the Rapids. There’s a very real chance that while this is the last regular season game between us, this will not be the last time we play this year. Tomorrow is a perfect opportunity for us to leapfrog KC in the standings. Their home form isn’t great lately (0-2-1), they’ve got a midfielder on suspension, Busio is gone, and they’ve got a couple injuries to deal with. If there was ever a time to strike, tomorrow the proverbial iron will be hot! 2-1 for the rapids tomorrow. Yarbrough and co will stand on their heads and make some insane defensive plays / saves to keep the score line and we score our goals off a corner and a counter attack
The objective now should be a home playoff game, which means top 4. We take advantage of skipping the All- Star and win 2-1. MLS media will be consumed with SKC’s inconsistent form. Meanwhile the sh$tty little Colorado keeps rolling.
1-1 draw, goal by Rubio. These teams have equal defenses while SKC has a better offense than Colorado. They will have a couple of players missing, and a couple of players who had to travel to LA for the All-Star Game this week. I think that will even things out, along with Fraser getting this team to play better almost every game. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2021/08/another-top-of-table-clash.html
Wonder if we will see Esteves get some minutes tonight: We've got a heavyweight matchup tonight 💥⚽️ 7:00 PM 📺@AltitudeTV 📻@AltitudeSR 📱#SKCvCOL pic.twitter.com/8qeNRha72W— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) August 28, 2021
Hope the Rapids' frustration from the last meeting carries over in a positive way tonight. Also, hoping Bassett doesn't play on the wing. This is another chance for Fraser and Co. to prove they belong in the top tier this season. They generally rise to the challenge. Looks like it will be in the mid 80s with 52% humidity, so not as bad as the matches in Austin and Houston. I am assuming we'll see some iteration of the 5-4-1.
I think this graphic has the front line mixed up, its probably Lewis-Shinyashiki-Galvan. Rubio not even making the 18 is...interesting
LEWIS! Good ball by Rosenberry to Shinny in the center of the box. He controls its really well and lays it off to Lewis Initial shot deflected but the rebound was right back to Lewis. Controls it well and slots it home! Rapids looking good through 20min. Just need to keep their nerves together
"Expert last-second defending from Danny Wilson" - I'll take things that 2018 me never would have expected opposing announcers to say for $200
Interesting half of soccer. After the goal, the Rapids decided to try to win 1-0. Kicked the ball backwards more than forward. Must get aggressive again.
That was an odd call on Wilson too. The ref had been letting a LOT of questionable things go. Wilson and Kinda were hand fighting and Kinda decides to go flying and flailing (hence why he was laughing while Price was yelling at him for diving) and then the Ref decided to start calling fouls? I’m ok with the call to a degree, it’s a super soft call but a call nonetheless, but not with the timing after letting a bunch go. Beautiful goal tho. Anyways. First 20min was the Rapids’ by an ok margin. Last 25 was pretty much all KC. Fraser needs to make something happen during the half. We can’t keep possession at all right now and KC is slicing and dicing their way through our defense
Pretty sure that kick was taken about 5 feet back from the spot of the foul. I'll have to check the replay but the foul looked like it was inside the circle.
And Wilson fouled him a foot or two from the 16. Ref moved it back five yards, making an easier free kick.
