I know it's a short playoff system, but jeez... two wins away from the cup! C'mon Chungy! C'mon Spenny! C'mon Hendo! C'mon you boys in green! (come on you boys in green, come on you boys in green, come on you boys, come on you boys in green) The next four hours leading up to kickoff are gonna be pretty rough. Thank heaven for beer and tequila!
After last night's Great American Beer Fest, I'll say that wasn't the first thought running through my mind this morning. But I hear what you're saying...I'll definitely need a couple to calm the nerves tonight. I really think we can pull this off. The team knows that LA are not world beaters, and with our midfield playing the way it is, and with vets like Pibe and Spenny stepping up and giving their all in what may be their best chance at winning a cup, I feel really good about this matchup and our chances to make it to DC. Come on Rapids!!!!!!!!!
Re: Re: Rapids at Galaxy - Game 1 - [R] I said the same thing a few weeks ago until I was corrected. Glad I'm not the only one who was thinking DC. Here's to hoping the there isn't a home team in Foxboro
Ok, I had to start drinking too... I can't stand the wait. Only less than 30 minutes to kickoff. Go Rapids.
you are losing 3-0. You have 2 and a half times the number of fouls that LA has. You missed a PK. There's time for LA to make it look worse.
The subject line said "R" and someone asked for real-time updates. TheMutts said "If anyone is watching the game could you please update us time to time thanks." Here's another Galaxy are up 4-0 in the 85th minute.
Me too, I've got 6 tickets and 4 newcomers showing up to that game. Silver Lining: Game 1 against the burn was bad as well.
So maybe.... So maybe this is the plan: blow game one, make the opponent over confident, then take the next two games? Actually, they were likely emotionally/physically tired. The Dallas series was a lot, and although LA went 3 games also, they were at home and I didn't sense the KC/LA series was as intense (could be rong!). Can we get off the mat again? I think so. LA isn't a 4-0 score better than us, and we have lost a lot of blowouts this year without it deflating us the next time out. Maybe we need the 'other' alignment from our soccer genius coach? Guess he's not a genius for now, or a least till Wednesday. Since we were a higher seed than Columbus, I thought we'd play the NE (#2 seed) and the lowest seed left, Columbus, would have gotten the #1 seed LA. All Pro sports work that way to make the regular seasona little bit meaningful. Anyone know what they were thinking when they made up this system (i.e. an NCAA bracket)? We could have had 1 vs. 4 and then 6 vs. 7 for the Cup? In this year parity makes these issues less important, but you'd have to say that we got the tough draw out of this. RLH p.s. We'd still need to go through LA for the Cup, but doing it in Boston would be easier. RLH
We're in trouble. On set pieces against, we have to deal with Lexi and Easy-E coming forward (among others). Gals have amazing speed and ball handling (Fishy with dreds and Cien). Why were we chipping anything into their box? The only way we were going to win the ball was if Spenny/Chris elbowed someone in the groin before it came in the box. Pibe was playing great, but the ball wasn't being played to him much. *sigh* Time for a new strategy, Hanki...come on RA-PIDS!
Re: So maybe.... Brackets in most sports have 1v8 and 4v5 on one side and 2v7 and 3v6 on the other side...the #1 seed is supposed to have the "easiest" route to the championship...
First off to all the Dallas Burn people........ha ha ha ha ha at least we made it past you chumps. How's the feeling again? The Rapids did look tired and slow. The passes weren't crisp and the guys looked confused. I was surprised a little that Stewart didn't start along with Titus. They didn't create many chances at all. As Viking posted, they did have a lot of fouls. The sign of a tired team. I thought Spencer did fine with the penalty, Hartman just guessed correctly and blocked the shot. It had to have been a big emotional let down. And yes, hopefully the game plan is to lose game one big and then comeback for the next two.
During the postgame presser, Hankinson basically said he was pleased to get this far and that you guys just weren't good enough to beat LA this series. He talked about how far the team came since last year, and that you guys still got a little ways to go. Who could argue with him? In fairness though, the Galaxy would have beaten any MLS club badly yesterday. And that was the best game any MLS club has played all year.
