Your previous post as well. The police/DA are incapable of dealing with woman who was trafficked but still able to figure out how to escape. It probably also doesn't help Chrystul that she is Black.
I've never heard of anything quite like this case. https://www.thejournal.ie/manchester-reynhard-sinaga-prolific-serial-rapist-jailed-4955050-Jan2020/
In terms of numbers yeah that's quite ...I was going to say efficient, but yeah,I dont know what word fits there. But the act itself of preying on drunk kids?Pretty common.
Not sure what you mean by that comment. This is a guy who wanted power over his victims. The numbers are high, but that likely due to the myth that "men can't be raped" and therefor a combination of shame and thinking that other would not believe them.
I was told in the 70s to never leave my drink unattended and I was not even close to being attractive enough for anyone to slip me a mickey.. Like I say, this has been around forever.
Many of the complainants had earlier been to the city centre nightclubs Factory and Fifth Avenue So this psycho would be FAC666
With somebody collecting 190 victims before people figure out that something bad is going on? Until I hear otherwise, I am assuming that is unprecedented.
How would we know?Who would admit to this happening to them back then, especially a man? I agree 190 is probably some Guiness record.
Here is a follow up to the prolific Manchester rapist. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-50688975 Sorry for just the link, but there are a few tidbits in there that explain why he was able to be so prolific. An considering all, it was a 17 year old who was able to stop it.
Surprise. Sarah Abitbol: Athletes back ice skater after rape allegation https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-51383835 France's top athletes have signed a letter in support of a champion figure skater who has accused her former coach of sexually assaulting her as a teenager. In an autobiography released last week, Sarah Abitbol alleges that Gilles Beyer first raped her when she was aged 15. Prosecutors in France have now opened an investigation. In the letter - signed by more than 50 competitors - the athletes said they were "disgusted... but not surprised". There are massive issue with US gymnastics all over the place, not just at the top. IIRC, there are are also allegations regarding the US ice skating program. So it should be of no surprise that this is happening elsewhere, in this case France ice skating.
Since I've moved to my present location seven years ago, there have been seven youth coaches of boys and girls who have been credibly accused of improper relationships with their players. I'm talking like travel team baseball, softball, basketball, gymnastics, etc. It's about time some attention gets paid to this, IMO.
What happens when women stay home for safety? https://www.npr.org/2020/03/09/8136...home-to-protest-femicides-in-a-day-without-us This: Why? About 10 women are killed in Mexico each day. There's a name for the killing of women because of their gender: femicide. Mexico has tracked femicides for the past eight years. In February, the country's attorney general said femicides have increased 137% over the last five years, four times more than the general homicide rate. Just for reference, this is the same street, not today:
The point, at least to me, was that these women are making noises but the average person is not paying attention. So they wanted to make a point of how much of a part of life they are and these who are not inherently misogynist would hopefully notice. Because those who are being killed are going missing, just like all the women in the first picture.
It's kind of like how the #metoo movement started here. People were wholly ignorant of how widespread it is. It really wasn't until the hashtag and posts started coming out that average people began to understand how widespread rape is here in the US. In Mexico, the visual along with the reason for it can help people understand. It is a one off moment, but continued discussion is necessary. To give you an example of something else...I learned about FGM (female genital mutilation) back in the early 1990s. But it was a series statements by prominent females from Africa who really made it well known, but not until the 2000s when action was starting to be taken. Yet, FGM was constantly discussed previously. I even remember a Law and Order episode about the issue.
https://sports.yahoo.com/new-title-...t-150637906.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=fb Title IX no longer requires mandatory reporting in colleges The U.S. Department of Education, led by education secretary Betsy DeVos, announced new Title IX federal regulations that change requirements on who must report sexual assault allegations and how institutions respond to those complaints. The adjustments, outlined in a 2,033-page document and set to go into effect Aug. 14, no longer require coaches and other employees at colleges and universities to report allegations to the Title IX office. They also give schools a choice in what standard of proof they’d like to follow, bolster protections for the accused and require live hearings and cross examinations.
The conservative legisltaion will remain, tho, unless someone's keeping a record of every last piece of it so that each can be dealt with. Sanitizing this nation and getting conservatives to be even marginally less emboldened in their actions will take a LOT longer than the next president's term(s). The residual effects of Trump's regime are just as deadly as the stuff he and his Congress do themselves. Your (mild) optimism is misplaced, as it applies only to those who look like you.
