what did you expect? We had 2 freakn points in the weakest group and finished last! I would have placed us even lower. The most pathetic showing from a defending champion, simply numming!!!!! Thank you Lippi you fk face!

 

Those rankings are not reflected on the FIFA official ranking site so I wouldn't rely on their credibility. Italy will take a hit but from 5th to 26th seems kind of steep; I suspect we will continue to be in Top 15. Also, there's no friggin way New Zealand would jump from 78th to 22nd just by drawing two games. Bogus

 

ya its jsut the ranking of the WC tournament. I think we'll drop to about 10 or so on the official FIFA ranking.

I agree the ranking are a bogus (Italy #26/ 32 @ WC2010).

Fifa's ranking system is garbage.
It's alright though... some good friendlies and a successful Euro campaign we will be right back in the top 5.

 

these rankings mean absolutely nothing! If they really wanted to make them worth wild they should forgoe the qualifications for the WC and just put the top 32 teams in there based on the ranking. But of course they can;t because the rankings are bogus! In anycase, what matters now is that Italy get up from the ground and show the world that we are still an elite team, because this WC has ruined our image and the world thinks we are DONE!! Lets move forward with youth and enthusiasm to climb the mountain again! FORZA ITALIA!

 

We were ranked 14th at the start of the 2006 WC, we know how that ended.

 

Fifa rankings are mickey mouse but Italy currently doesn't belong to the top ten, and the dropoff between being world champions and being worst performers in the world cup is obviously big.

Since I don't expect Italy to qualify for Euro 2012 (for the first 2 years focus should solely be on squad rebuilding), I guess we'll probably go even lower in the immediate future.
