How would you rank the current Korean players? I know it's hard to compare since all of them play different positions/roles but still an interesting debate.

I don;t know too many domestic players (I actually have never heard of a couple players on the Potential list) but I would definitely add PJS to the current ability list and add Lee Kang In to the potential list. You don't see LKI's ridiculous technique/control/dribbling in kids his age. Maybe even Jang Gyeol Hee.. he's been quiet compared to LSW/BSH but he's still one of the best players on his team

Can we just not bother trying to do an apples to oranges to bananas comparison?

Dunno about the future talents but I saw video of this guy called Kim Roman, and he looks very promising.

Ive based this on players that Ive seen play so I know its not perfect.

Having closely watched both in the J-League this year, I can't imagine seeing Baek Sung Dong being ranked higher than Kim Bo Kyung. Baek's upside is a good dribbler, Kim's is a great playmaker. He may have disappointed during the Olympics, I didn't follow him as closely as you did, but I really wonder if there's a player with more potential in the 89-92 range.

Prior to the start of the Olympic campaign (friendly vs. New Zealand), Kim had played 2126 minutes of football in 25 matches just this year. Also, because of all the match delays Japan suffered last year, his season ended on the 28th of December. A few days into January, he was called into the under 23 squad for the Olympic camp in Guam and Thailand. Basically, he hasn't had a real break since December of 2010 and has been fighting against a long, gruelling half-season. If you were disappointed with Kim Bokyung's performance during the Olympics, you now know why.

Ku Jachul, Ki Sungyong, Hong Jungho.. where does it end? Even Son Heungmin has a higher potential although most of us are all convinced he will never reach it.

I tend to prefer guys who play higher on the pitch, you can have a lot of good n°8 but great n°10 are really rare.

Kim isn't any more of a number 10 than Ku Jachul is.

And I like Kim a bit better than Koo, there it's completely a matter of taste.

I don't think you know Ku Jachul very well if you think he's comparable to Kim. Ku's a supahstah.

    5. Kim Seung-Gyu
    6. Nam Tae-Hee

There's actually a good reason for that. Modern football doesn't really allow managers to play No. 10s on a consistent basis from a tactical standpoint. It just isn't a viable position anymore. The closest No. 10 in modern football who can play effectively in any type of game is probably Modric, and he's not exactly your traditional No. 10.

Ranking players while disregarding their positions and the difference in the level of competition they face is a stupid idea to begin with. To rank a scrub Shin Kwang-hoon as a top 10 player in Korea and to rank more than half of the players who are almost young enough to be your nephew in your top 10 "potential" (whatever that means) ranking based on clips you see online is beyond logic and common sense.

nice try but i still dont see the point of replying if you wont post your subjective 10. or maybe they just havent published a book you can regurgitate and massage your ego by stating THE top 10 of top 10s.

your taking this way to serious dude.

The thing is, unlike you, I see a point and I've already explained why such rankings are not worth my time.

Or, do you actually want to discuss why I don't think Shin Kwang-hoon should be nowhere near top 10 Korean players list? Should I start by talking about how he (along with Park Joo-ho) at wing-back completely fcuked up one of the most talented teams we've ever had at the U-2o World Cup in 2007? I mean, two RBs we had at the OLYMPICS this summer were both better than him. And at senior level, we've got a complete retard like Ko Yo-han getting shredded by a team like Uzbekistan and even then, Shin Kwang-hoon isn't even being considered. We're talking about a dude who, 1) doesn't know what defending is, 2) can't cross or do anything else for that matter at the attacking end other than getting cute with the ball when he goes forward. This is the kind of guy who you're considering as one of Korea's ten best players.
