I don’t get all the people still calling for Brooks. Dude has played 1 minute in over 4 months. People can say Berhalter hates him or w/e but Brooks screwed his WC hopes when he took 3 months to find a new team just to be a backup. Maybe Brooks gets match fit and earns a starting spot but by that time it’ll be too little too late.
I said this in the post match thread, but has Berhalter even been watching Ream in the PL so far this season? Personally, I think he’s always been better than Long, but what is the explanation to leave off one of our most in-form center backs? He even fits the system well enough when we are in possession.
I don't know the answer at this point. Besides the Zimmerman and Miles pairing, I have not seen a good pairing in the past fours years. Sure, it would make sense to bring in Reams, but every time that he has played for the USMNT over the past fours years, I cringe. At this point, you pick the players who are playing and in form. So, in that case, it may be Reams (at least as backup). May be even Miazga who looked real good when the Quakes played Cinnci.
Maybe we should play with no defenders at all in order to give our keeper a clear vision of the other team's attack. Our keepers are just about the only players we have that play about as good they can under Berhalter so it kind of makes sense to just let them play. Doesn't it?
I’d bring Ream as he is versatile- with some adjustment to your formation, he can cover at left back. He’s a good player and in great form right now. He’s just not a miracle cure.
Long does not belong on the National team as a starter. He’s not the same player he was before his injury…
Ream is basically our Michelob Ultra version of Rafa Marquez. Im happy starting him in the back, even if he is 35.
So why isn't EPB getting a fair shot? He's been doing really well with his club in France. Called up but zero minutes in the recent camp.
They regularly play a 5 man backline, which in today's game is a freaking wild notion. But, whatever you gotta do to stay in Ligue 1 I guess, especially with 4 relegation slots this year.
Here are the steps to getting minutes with the Nats. 1. Perform at the club to earn a call up. 2. Get called into camp and peform well enough to earn minutes. 3. Play in a Nats match. Play well enough to earn more callups and minutes. So EPB did steps 1 and 2. Then he got in a match and looked lost IMO. So he goes back and plays well enough at his club to earn another call up (coupled with other players getting injured). Now for all we know he looked poor in camp hence no minutes this last window. A fair shot is getting called into camp. We have no idea how he looked last week.
Good list…. My top 10 (2003 and younger)…including dual nationals. 1. Anrie Chase, 2004, VfB Stuttgart [Japan] 2. Joshua Wynder, 2005, Benfica 3. Grayson Dettoni, 2005, Bayern Munich [Italy] 4. Noahkai Banks, 2006, FC Augsburg [Germany] 5. Jalen Neal, 2003, LA Galaxy 6. Noah Cobb, 2005, Atlanta United 7. Matai Akinbomni, 2006, DC United 8. Kobi Henry, 2004, Reims 9. I think most prospect watchers consider the latter to be a better prospect than the former... 6. Noah Cobb, 2005, Atlanta United 7. Matai Akinbomni, 2006, DC United
We’ll see. I’ve seen a lot of people high on Akinbomni. I hope that he realizes that potential. That said, I’ve seen a good bit of Noah Cobb. I think a lot of people are sleeping on him. Maybe he’s not UCL level. But he’s got potential. I think he could definitely reach the heights of James Sands and Walker Zimmerman in time.
