Anyone watching on FS+?
im watching through a stream
lots of sloppy passes from rangers
spun pass defender on 1 sequence. nice sequence leads to sog
Just happy that he's back in the starting lineup. thx for PBP.
nice pass by zelalem leads to chance,
out at 57. probably for defense
bummer. 50+ minutes. Not enough in for my liking.
how'd he do overall?
GZ looked good in his time on the pitch, involved in every good forward move from Rangers. Subbed out for Defensive midfielder with a 1-0 lead.
Looked rusty at the beginning. Trouble seeing the field, leading to a few turnovers when he tried to pass forward or took time on the ball. Started to get in a groove later on, with nifty spin moves, chips, and whatnot to advance his team's position, and put them in a better chance to score. Also did the typical good job wheeling the ball around, for the technically and athletically superior team. But when he gets near net, he freezes up and his lack of burst to get by defenders and show up quickly in a different open space rears its ugly head. Defensively, showed some improved awareness and aggression when asked. But his role was primarily offensive. I'd say 6/10.
might of just shored up another start. halliday red
Rangers win 2-0, go up 5 points on Hibernian and 7 over Falkirk (game in hand on Falkirk).
Halliday is not straight competition for GZ but he will miss game after next, I think. Depends a bit on what is up with Holt as well, but clearly MW is not concerned about giving Z minutes at the moment.
also, fwiw the couple of on-line article/rating pages I saw had GZ in the 5-6 range. Didn't feel like he made the most of his chance. Sheils and even Law were thought to contribute marginally more on the day and/or across the season.
Law is trying to get a fat new contract. Holt has already been re-signed.
BTW, is today GZ's 19th b'day?
saw it mentioned in one of the articles. Guess today was already Glasgow's tomorrow.
Highlights from the game, his start at the 1:20 minute mark of the video.
Very strange card.
Celebrating in front of the Morton supporters section.
He was in the center circle.
Yeah "in the direction of..." is the actual issue. He turned to the Morton fans and raised his fist. It's a pretty silly rule, but given all the history of hooligan brawling, understandable. But this one looks like some overkill.
He also walked in our direction with his arms out wide - pretty silly thing to do with the assistant ref right in front of us. I don't think the rule could have been ignored on this one, trying to provoke the opposition fans in this way is always going to get a booking. If they'd actually shown the whole incident on the TV they could have saved all the controversy over it which followed.
Here's a video which shows more of it, even if it's not the best quality:
Yeah - As I said, given the history of fan behavior there is no reason not to crack down on that stuff. celebrate with your own fans, don't provoke the opponents.
I think in some other circumstances he is not carded, but Halliday attracts a bit of ref attention in general.
So Halliday gets a holiday.
