I'd normally suggest the Dallas game any other year but it's a wednesday this season.

I'd advise waiting till October and coming to the LA or Columbus match at Soldier Field if you're gonna drive all that way.

Note To Self: Cancel vacation to Belgrade

Lovely, just lovely. Instead of going to a Fire game, I suggest waiting until next fall and catching Crane vs. Marshall boys b-ball in the Chicago public league. The atomosphere will be to your liking.

Most fo those pics are from the 80's and a few from the current championship.
does Chicago have a rivalry against a team in the MLS ???
I heard something about Columbus but I am not sure at all if some has more info I would appreciate it:)
I saw a few pics of Chicago fans road trips and all not bad I would not mind driving for a soccer game, in MN the only game you can see is Thunder and nothing against them they are good but still it's fun to see something where adults go to enjoy a game and the atmosphere.

If any one is interested in more pics from Belgrade games just go to www.Delije.net and or http://www.delije-caffe.co.yu/ both sites have little English icons on top so you can see the English version of the site and also English forums are there as well.

I hardly would characterise Columbus as a rival.

Most people tend to lean toward LA or Dallas or both as primary rivals....and there's some burgeoning animosity with the Metro but that's only really because of Bob.

Columbus is like KC and Milwaukee. It's a nice little vacation.

the thing about columbus is that they think there is a rivalry. i just plain hate everyone else but there are fire supporters that don't. it's just funny because they taunt us from behind cops beacuse the cops hate us. you want to know why? because they wish they were chicago cops and the fans wish they had what we have. so in turn, we just drink all night and do fireworks at the hotel.

oh yeah, and there was an incident last year with a sign that made this fat lady all hot and bothered. then she made up a story that someone stole an autographed flag from her child. some rivalry!

Yeah, last summer a few of them came to NPRVL and were total idiots...Some of us were just walking across the lot to chat with them (if their gear wasn't THE lamest in the league we coulda done a scarf exchange,or somethin like that, but no thanx.) Anyway, they got all riled up and ready to throw down and then started taunting us when we walked away.....got a little bit annoyed and contemplated showing the cow town folks a lil Chicaga aggro....but there were cops, of course. and besides there aint no real reason for any BS with them, that woulda been kinda stupid...was REAL glad to see the Spew supporters came, actually.

Was that the same as the time that the "goth" girl tore down their little support sign?

Sorry to burst your bubble there, Stan, but the team had a poll on who the fans disliked the most, and included an essay contest. The Fire was barely mentioned, and when they were it was as part of a list, as in "some other guys we find a little annoying sometimes include the Fire" who came in, IIRC, fifth or sixth.

Since there are only 9 other teams, the FIre essentially ranked in the bottom third, right along with Colorado.

A small (very small) number of Chicago fans have rolled into Columbus absolutely, unquestionably looking for trouble. They've wrecked stuff and started fights and jumped people, including, unfortunately for you, someone connected with the team. Not a big deal really, but the CBus police (who BTW have ZERO desire to be "Chicago Cops, thanks) are operating, as all cops do, based on the reputation a couple clowns have created for you as a bunch of juvenile delinquents who have trouble holding their beer.

It's too bad, because being so nearby, we love having you guys bring a busload over for a match. Great atmosphere, lots of smack, good times.

As for the "fans wish(ing) they had what we have" what exactly would that be? A high school field with football lines? A crummy team that even the coach abandoned? The chance to go to games and not have a few beers? What?

Janet Handler, whom I'm certain you've never laid eyes on, is a very handsome and classy lady, and her now 16 year old daughter (who some big, bad Fire fan got up the stones to steal a flag from) is nothing short of hot. She is now living in Florida under a development contract with a major recording studio. They normally don't do these deals with fat ugly people, Mango.

As for the "story" being "made up" it was investigated and confirmed by Peter Wilt, who personally apologized to the Handlers, explaining that he was embarassed by the behavior of a "minority" of the Fire fans. Janet (known as Lady Upper Deck on bigsoccer) and family are among the nicest people on the earth.

But your telling these "Baghdad Bob" type stories is one good example why we DON'T have a "rivalry" with you. We just don't respect you enough. Dump the handful of wannabes and give us a call.

it's too bad, mr. bill archer, that you have been brainwashed by this "non" fat and "attractive" woman. you see, there was the most unbelivable amount of animosity twards the two "goth" girls on the crew board after the incident. some of the talk involved the fat lady and some quotes stating the girls as; "junkies" "white trash" "bare foot and pregnant" and i'm sure some better ones that i can't think of. sorry but you lose. c-bus is only fun because we get to go home the next day.

    p.s.
this came out of my pm box:

Now what I did say was:
During the game though two girls (skag, aids, needles, abortions, trash, whore,"blow ya for a fix and a hot meal"..all come to mind when ya see them) came up and started tearing down ladyupperdecks banner that said "who plays in a cowtown now"

Now if that was your girlfriend then you have some balls to admit it in public. As for introducing myself to her...man I wouldnt touch her with your dick.

    i want you,

Exactly, Columbus is fun but not a rvialry.
Anytime away fans are louder than the home fans, the issue is settled, regardless of outcome of game.

I believe there was also some more detailed mention of how they were either crack whores or had major heroin tract marks.

And who was it from that group of crew fans that was grabbing her and dragging her down to the security?

ahhh shut up. you guys look great anyway. I love watching your home matches on TV just for you guys. I wish the other stadiums allowed the stuff they let you guys get in with. Well, now here in DC, we finally figured a way to get flags in, we use cardboard poles :D
