For whoever is going to the game...what motivation do you guys have attending the game this weekend?

DC United is out of the playoffs. I am a die hard fan and went to every home game this season but Im sick of getting dissapointed every single game.(Except for the San Jose game) You are gonna go to the game and watch Moreno miss 5 goals and get frusturated. It doesnt help that MLS is against DC United.

Just a thought...If DC United becomes the Manchester United of MLS then other teams attendance will drop and MLS will go downhill. I could be completly off on this idea but I thought Id share it anyway.

What to do with the team in the offseason:
    Rimando-Keep
Alavanja- This guy has to be the worst player in MLS history. I think DC can play better with 10 men than with him on the field.
    Alegria-Keep
    Ammann-Useless
    Convey-Keep
    Curtis-Keep
Etcheverry-If he accepts less money stay. If he wants to go play in China let him. He's 32(I think) and his stats arent that good this year. I hope and think he is gonna stay for less money.
Lassiter-Cant even look dangerous vs UMD. Cut him.
    McGinty-Keep him.
McKinley-Ive been reading on the boards that Hudson says he is staying. He is not a good player at all. Slow and I hate when he makes those passes to absolutely no one causing a turnover near the other teams goal.
Moreno-I liked Moreno but his time is up. Congratulations to his new kid but he needs to be traded, waived, or whatever. We have Eliseo and Quaranta for next season so get rid of him. I read(I think on unitedmania.com) that he was scared to shoot hard cause he might get injured. We, the fans, pay $ for you to shoot the ball however you make it go in the net. Send him back to Middlesborough..I'll pay the shipping cost.
    Nelson-Keep
Prideaux- Better then McKinley anywhere on the field.
    Reyes-Keep. Team MVP.
    Villegas- Keep
Williams- Cut him. He is the worst DMid in the league. Some of it he cannot help. Being 4 feet tall is going to put you at a disadvantage at the start. All he does is foul and grab peoples jersey. He played well against SJ but you shouldnt get excited when a starter plays well once in a season.
Zambrano-Havent seen him play that many times. Dont know.
Hudson-I met him at Dave and Busters and he seems like a nice guy. His quotes are hilarious but if you cant fire up a team or are losing a lot..you gotta go. I dont know about this season but if next season is like this Hudson has to go.

La Norte-Do you guys have a good view of the field from where you sit being right behind the goal? Can you see the game on the other side of the field?

Chino hasnt had a lot of playing time in the second half of the season. You guys think he is gonna develop into something or just be an average player.

For those of you going to the game this Saturday I admire your patience and I hope DC wins 5-0. I cant wait till next season where DC has a clean record and we can look forward to a couple of new players to help DC get back to the top of the league.

My motivation is that I've already paid for the ticket, so I might as well go... :D

But in all truth, even as crappy as the team has been, I would still rather hang out at a United game at RFK than go see a movie or go out for dinner at a nice restaurant. The atmosphere is usually good, the people are fun to hang out with, I get to watch soccer and have a few beers (just a few.... ;)). I consider that fun, so that's what I do when I can.

I go to every game because DC United is my team. It's easy enough to support a team when they're winning championships year after year. In the Barra Brava, our motto is pretty much "We Don't Care"
win or lose, we'll be behind our boys till the end. And when they do return to glory, we'll be happy in the fact that we might have played a small part in it.
Oh and the tailgates are a blast too. ;)

Never any doubt that I will be there. Win, lose or draw I am still a fan and it is the Metrosucks.

I think you've got to keep Moreno and get rid of Quaranta. If you want to watch future stars and keep losing, that's fine but if you want to win you prooooooobably want to start the best player in MLS history over some kid who needs to be put in his place and is worried more about personal glory than they team overall. Just my $.02.

winning the season series with the scum would take a bit of the sting of this season out. no season that includes wins over scum and galaxy is a total loss.

Well I've been watching Jaime and for the past 3 years and he hasn't done a damn thing for this team. He's consistently injured and out of shape (maybe if he were in shape he'd be faster and wouldn't get hacked). I bet he calls in when he has a pimple on his butt. Q, who had internal bleeding is itching to get back on the field. If Q plays his best for himself, fine. I want someone who is hungry and I'd be willing to wager that results in a few more wins for United.

Are you sure you're really as die-hard as you say you are? Being a fan of DCU means being stuck in through shiteness whether you like it or not. Whether or not Moreno misses, it doesn't matter. One day someone else will be up front missing goals, and I'll still be there.

What to do with the team in the offseason:
    Rimando-Keep

Absolutely. Nick has been our saviour.
    Convey-Keep
The future of DCU, if he stays.
    Curtis-Keep
Hell yeah! He showed La Norte the love!
Etcheverry-If he accepts less money stay. If he wants to go play in China let him. He's 32(I think) and his stats arent that good this year. I hope and think he is gonna stay for less money.
He can still surprise...just look at his goal at the All-Star Game.
McKinley-Ive been reading on the boards that Hudson says he is staying. He is not a good player at all. Slow and I hate when he makes those passes to absolutely no one causing a turnover near the other teams goal.
He's been the picture of shite all season. Send him to SJ.
Moreno-I liked Moreno but his time is up.
    O ye of little faith...
    Nelsen-Keep
All hail the Kiwi Beckham! Nelsen has been awesome this season. His injury is unfortunate.
Prideaux- Better then McKinley anywhere on the field.
    Hell, I'M better than McKinley!
    Reyes-Keep. Team MVP.
He has been our rock. Best buy in MLS this year.
Hudson-I met him at Dave and Busters and he seems like a nice guy. His quotes are hilarious but if you cant fire up a team or are losing a lot..you gotta go. I dont know about this season but if next season is like this Hudson has to go.
What you have to remember is that Rongen really bollocksed up things in his mercifully short tenure here. I think Ray-Ray is taking too much heat for inheriting a team demoralised into shite by a pisspoor coach. Rimando seems like the only one who's really played with a spark of confidence (Reyes and Quintanilla excluded, being DCU first-timers)...maybe Hudson knows what he's doing. I'm willing to give him another season. He may even bring in Gazza!

La Norte-Do you guys have a good view of the field from where you sit being right behind the goal? Can you see the game on the other side of the field?
Yeah, there's generally a good view. If you ever find your vision impaired, we have a perfect shot of the jumbotron.

Re: Re: Random Thoughts and Questions

I think the operative word here is history, as in Moreno is probably history after this season. He has been a great player in the past but has consistently shown that he is injury prone, and not very dedicated to remaining fit in the off-season.

Also, every great player started off as "some kid", and I for one think Quaranta is our best striker right now. I want to see Q1 & Q2 together out there tearing it up.

    Just my $.02

Or how about Q1 and Josh Wolff? What can we do to make that happen?

If we could have some confidence in his health, I'd say hell yeah! His speed combined with Tino's power and size would be a nice combination. Alas, Josh Wolff is too fragile to take the risk on, in my opinion. We need 2 strikers who can form a strong partnership over the majority of matches. I'm hoping SuperTino will come back strong and be as consistently present as Convey has since his health returned (although now he is hurtiung from the shoulder injury).
