That scorebug issue used to happen all the time with Jackets games. Ok on one of the local FS but not the other FS.
Weird. Normally, the 16x9 image should have shown entirely, if not seeming a bit squished because of the black bars, but for it to be ok on one feed is VERY weird. What I don't understand is why the one feed (Cincinnati) is slightly ahead of the other OR why the west coast feed of national broadcasts is slightly ahead of the east coast. I assume it's some valid technical reason, but you'd think they'd be synched.
Simple distances. While light (and thus similar transmissions) are fast, they are not instantaneous. You go up to the geosync satellite and back down again, that adds a second or two, as it's 22K miles one way whereas transmission by OTA is at most a couple hundred miles. https://www.satellitetoday.com/uncategorized/2007/06/01/delays-and-dilemmas/
When I lived just off Hudson, I learned that you could hear the crowd at the Shoe -- count to four -- then watch the touchdown on tv.
Truth. It's why I'll never understand how the "tailgate during the game" crowd does it. It has to be so frustrating to hear the crowd before the ball is snapped, but I guess they just learn to live with it if they're not blasting loud music to try to hide the sounds inside the stadium. But also, because of various reasons, cable and satellite are behind OTA and streaming is even further delayed. As an example, it's weird to watch the NYE ball drop knowing it's already the new year, especially if you're watching on Hulu or whatever. It's not a deal-breaker to me, but I can see why it'd affect people who use social media or place bets during games. I remember listening to live streams of Crew games back in the day and the live chats would spoil what I was going to hear. Heck, during MLS Is Back, the same thing was happening here with some people watching on Hulu vs cable. Fox Deportes was a few seconds ahead of FS1 (and in English), so I just watched there to get ahead of the FS1 crowd.
FIFA rules changes for 25-26 my favorite is the one where only the captain may talk to the ref. Unfortunately it seems to be optional https://www.theifab.com/law-changes/latest/
Anyone know much about this USL2 side, Akron City FC? Saw them pop up in my FB feed / timeline. https://www.akroncityfc.com/
Former NPSL team that took the step up to USL2 this year. Owned by Nick Turchan, who is a finance guy who used to work for the Cavs. Started a couple years ago along with a name everyone up there knows, former indoor legend Kia Zolgharnain. Now coached by some guy nobody ever heard of. They used to play at St V but I don't know if that still is true. Has a supporters group called Rubber City Underground, which seems unfortunate.
Thanks Chelsea. I see Bill above gave some info (thanks Bill). In your opinion, would it be worth a 40 min drive South for me to see them play? They have a match tomorrow (Tues, 6/17) at 7 pm. I was thinking about checking it out.
Why? Don't you have a Div III college closer than that? A decent high school? A good club? USL2 is, well, I don't want to be mean, so I'll just say that it's....not great. Some might say shitty.
Now if only they could trash the remnants of Columbus SC. "Black, gray and a tiny bit of yellow." It'd be so much better if the yellow soccer team played in a yellow stadium.
Agreed on hating the 'Columbus SC, black, gray, and a tiny bit of yellow'. That said, I think the stadium probably looks better with the seats that they put in versus all yellow (see Acrisure Stadium). If they did a mix of yellow, black, perhaps grey and white, that would be similar to Geodis Park's navy blue, yellow, and white. Not sure if that would be better than what we have.
I also go back to the way the yellow seats at HCS faded, but the roof at LDC would help slow that down. The other issue was that people were wearing yellow jerseys while sitting in yellow seats, but the 19k+ LDC gets on a regular basis makes that a moot point. It's definitely not a problem in the Nordecke. With that said, most of the wall surrounding the first row is dull gray and they can't jazz it up a bit?
So, on Saturday at TQL in Cinci, Borussia Dortmund plays Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa. A group of us have tickets for the match—in the Bailey. Now, the Bailey has a policy that you can’t wear a yellow jersey in that section (i.e. to prevent Crew fans from “sitting” [read: standing] there). I suspect, however, that the Bailey will be the TQL equivalent of Signal Iduna Park’s “Yellow Wall.” TQL will certainly ditch the “no yellow jerseys” policy for this match, right? And a further question: if fans supporting Dortmund and wearing yellow into the Bailey, how bent out of shape will the event staff be if people were to, uh, wear yellow Crew jerseys into the Bailey? Asking for five friends.
I would ASSUME the policy is not unlike the "no red in the Nordecke" which is obviously lifted/altered for US games. Wearing a jersey of the rival team that normally plays there? Wouldn't that be akin to someone wearing a Shitcago Fy-ure jersey to a USMNT game in Columbus? It's probably not the best decision, but they're a bag of dicks if they forbid it.
