While this is certainly something Jack would do, I find it hard to believe that they could find 50k T&T citizens who would purchase tickets to any game.
I misremembered some of the numbers; 1989 vs. USA. Jack Warner announced that extra tickets would be printed for the game and that alcohol restrictions within the ground would be lifted. The capacity of the stadium was 28,500. The local paper accused Warner of printing over 45,000 tickets.
The fire marshal up here in Cleveland used to be a little loose about SRO at Municipal Stadium. Even he'd probably call this crazy.
Good news for our own TrudyJab: In France if you fast for Ramadan, you're out. It does note though that the Premier League does in fact take a nutrition break for Muslim fasters, including "energy gel" which sounds disturbing. Wasn't sure where to put this, but doesn't the guy on the left look a lot like our own @hangthadj?? This is the official postage stamp for a show I just attended in Essen (you may have noticed that some of my comments over the last few weeks came in at odd hours).
https://www.sportbible.com/football/fifa-offside-rule-premier-league-568949-20230701 FIFA are set to begin trialling a new offside rule ahead of the 2023/24 season in the Netherlands, Italy and Sweden which would see football endure a major change. The new rule would mean that the entire player of an attacking player would have to be in front of the defender to be ruled offside, something that would see the amount of offside calls made be significantly reduced. -------- I might actually start watching Serie A to check out this new rule. I'm 100% for it!
I'm surprised they're testing it on a major level and not a lower division. (National League, USL 2, etc.)
I'm doubting the reduction will actually happen--after an adjustment period. They'll now be looking for a "clear gap" and forwards (as always) will be looking for ways to beat it. But we'll see. I've been thinking this was needed for a while now.
I don't really like this. It raises the possibility that an attacker could literally stand between the 2LD and the goal and hold him off and technically be onside. Just go back to the torso.
I don’t like the new rule. If I have to chose between the current rule or the new one, I chose current and it’s not even close.
Shaka Hislop was covering a match in LA while he collapsed on live TV. https://www.marca.com/en/football/2023/07/24/64bde30f268e3ec6518b45a7.html
Another member of that freakish good T&T team with Stern John, Ansel Elcock, Dwight Yorke, Cornel Glen et. al. Sad thing is that everyone thought that was a beginning. Instead turned out to be an end. Hope Shaka is OK. I just heard about Bronny James. When an 18 year old athlete goes down with a cardiac arrest it's never good, is it?
