Can't find any specific thread for Israel elections, so I am jumping on this one. (Mom feel free to move this if needed). Anyway, Israel politics is a real mess. Although It is clear that Bibi's Likud is losing seats and Bibi will not get the majority, he may still stay and PM until the soon to be 5th election. What a shitshow. #IsraElex4 : This election was all about @netanyahu. Parties opposing him seem to have majority. In this estimate #Bennet can‘t save #Bibi. opposing camp ranges from far left to more right than #Likud - also on that end forming a government will be a close to impossible challenge pic.twitter.com/xlXktHB2d8— Natalie Raidl (@RaidlNatalie) March 24, 2021 The fact that a homophobic Islamic party seems to have saved Israel's LGBT community from Netanyahu's preferred coalition, which would have been dominated by Jewish Homophobes and misogynists, is one of those bizarre ironies of Israeli politics.— Sarit Michaeli (@saritm0) March 24, 2021 1374628438338760710 is not a valid tweet id
The problem of the parties opposing Bibi is that they do not want to work together. One of the parties is pretty hard core Nationalist, but more secular than right wing parties, they don't seem to want to work with the Arab Party. Edit: I just saw that the Arab parties split, I wonder if one is more palpable to the possible coalition.
One "interesting" part of this story is that the two religious parties, The Jewish & the Arab, share very similar views on a number of issues, including women's, LHBTQ etc. What a surprise.
Quick fact sheet.. I like the description of the parties. Basically the religious zionist party hates everyone. Incase anyone is curious about the election in Israel and confused what’s going on, here a quick fact sheet I had no idea until like 12 hours ago either pic.twitter.com/5G3ILTnR5z— umichvoter 🏳️🌈 (@umichvoter) March 24, 2021
If the first 5 parties got together they would get 66 votes, isn't the majority 61? Also the left has been totally whipped out.
All who are qualified to vote receive a voting pass. This time, because of covid, the election was spread over three days for the 65+ voters, so they could vote without being in a crowd with covid contact risks. Also for the 70+ voters for the first time it was possible to vote by mail. That didnot go well. It was too confusing, resulting in more than 8% of the mail votes being invalid. So they had to amend the rules for these votes to prevent this high number not being valid. Nobody knows your colour or whatever they use in the States to rig the elections for whites, so nobody can fraud you out of your right. Our civil registration selects everybody 18+ to send them their voting pass. Only if you have by court decision have been cut from your right to vote, you willnot receive a pass. To lose this right is a hard thing to manage. So everything is done to get people to exercise their democratic right and for sure their democratic duty.
The French Donald Trump is now second in polling for the Presidential election in France, still only 18% but he would get support of most of LaPen supporters, she is polling at around 17% In recent polls the 63-year-old has surged from nowhere, putting him on equal footing with Marine Le Pen to reach the second round of April’s presidential election https://t.co/UYR5bVO3OW— The Economist (@TheEconomist) November 13, 2021
I care!!! Is Johan Cryuff running? LOL, this is from months ago. And I shouldn't laugh, I'm one who posts about Argentina's elections.
Well, as a matter of fact we still are trying to get a gouvernment together. It's a record how long they're busy now.
Melenchon did better than expected according to this exit poll. 🇫🇷The first exit polls of the elections in #France. pic.twitter.com/TCM5qv42ck— NEXTA (@nexta_tv) April 10, 2022
I am curious to see what will be Melenchon position for the second round. Will he ask his supporters to vote for Macron and oppose the far right? Truly frightening to see Le Pen running toe to toe with Macron.
Latest numbers are giving Macron a bigger lead now. that is good news for him. French exit poll at 8pm CET: Macron leads 28% to 23% over Le Pen in round one. Both go forward to round 2. If Macron does win, it will be thanks to the old. The young in France seem to prefer Le Pen if the yougov poll below is correct. https://docs.cdn.yougov.com/fjg18u456t/France_Vote_Intention_07-Apr-2022_website_v2.pdf
It was not as close as the exit poll https://www.france24.com/en/france/...first-round-of-france-s-presidential-election
You beat me to the current results. The good news is that Zemmour is only getting around 7%. https://www.france24.com/en/france/...first-round-of-france-s-presidential-election
