Italian media reporting a ligament issue but claiming likely 2-3 week recovery. Side note..... this is the only reason I would take a legit Real offer seriously. I like Cala but I really worry about his knee long term.
Incredible ball from Jude, but Myles with the run, the strength, the touch, the composure and the technique. This kid is special.
And in the new Tuchel era MLS gets it going. Remember when England media hated Arsenal because we were the best in the land but not contributing to the NT? You're welcome.
Saka, Rice, Lewis-Skelly, White, Nwaneri, it is not out of the question that Arsenal have more players in the England 2026 WC squad than any other club..
Makes me think back to late 90’s early 00’s. Trying to remember… Seaman, Adams, Campbell, Keown, Merson, Parlor? Who am I missing or got wrong?
Left him out consciously thinking he didn’t get chosen a lot. Could be wrong. Haven’t bothered to look it up
Yeah but not many games played together in Euros or WC matches together I would imagine. Just had a quick look at English WC squads; 90: Seaman in squad initially, withdraws with injury 98: Seaman/Adams played every game, Keown unused sub every game (Sol was with the scum). 02: Seaman/Adams/Cole/Campbell played every game, Keown unused sub every game. 06: Cole played every game, Campbell played in 1 game, Walcott unused sub every game. 10: No Arsenal players in squad (Cole was with the Chel$$$ea) 14: Wilshere played 2 games, Oxlade-Chamberlain was injured the whole tournament. 18: Welbeck played in 1 game. 22: Saka played all but 1 game, Ramsdale unused sub all tournament, White unused sub before withdrawing from the squad. So we had 1 world cup, in 2002, where we had a strong influence on the WC squad with having 4 players in the line up every game and Keown an unused sub. Main teams represented in that squad were; Arsenal 5, Liverpool 4, Man U 4, Leeds 4, WHU 3.
Looks like he had 22 caps. That’s pretty decent imo, but I have no idea what your baseline to include/exclude. He missed Euro 92 due to injury where he would have been first choice. And from then on he had to compete with Gary Neville, who (despite is questionable punditry) is arguably the best RB in the last 30+ years.
Ashley Cole wasn’t a CM, so I would hope MLS is more skilled. (Arsenal fans really should retire the “Cashley” stuff. He was right and the players at the time admitted they were wrong in lowballing him.)
My take is it falls under the "two things can be true" trope. He should have been paid more but the way he went about his exit was always going to be perceived as traitorous.
I've always wondered if there wasn't more to the story as the decision to try and stiff him over a relatively small amount kind of indicated some bad vibes in the background? I agree he was a twat about it
Man, if you promised a certain amount and someone tried to play you, I think most of us would act at least as bad if not worse. That’s not a defense, but it’s over money. Ultmately, Dein and Co were the worst ones.
Was the stiffing him story really true? Because, if it was, that should be career ending stuff for whoever went back on their word like that.
Yeah, I've never heard that aspect of it. Not doubting DaPrince, just don't recall hearing that part before.
I still think we got the better deal getting Gallas, it's just a shame he didn't have a couple more peak years in him
Think Cashley wrote about it in his "autobiography," saying something like he nearly drove off the road because Arsenal went down from 60k a week to 55k a week. Don't know if it was true, but don't recall it being denied. Trying to scale back an agreed deal after the main terms are agreed seems rather problematic.
