They definitely saw Saliba’s talent. Not sure what you’re trying to say there. And I’m also not sure what impact the best business this regime has done has on the hierarchy of our most important players.
I don’t think he is. He scored 4 in 26 matches in 2024. And when I said Odegaard is our sixth most important player, that’s not me calling him overrated or trash. I just think those five players are more important to us winning or losing.
The thing about goal threat at Arsenal is as yet, Saka is not scoring 25 goals a season - so goals are spread across the line. So 10+ from MO is very important
Ok first of all, ex-Arsenal STAR? He had 1 appearance for us. With that said, the real question is did we add a sell on clause and how much of the 600k were we getting?
Wait - is it the 1980s or something? What kind of idiot tries importing 60kg of grass via a major airport?
From what I have seen lately, apparently he wasn't the drug mule, the drug mules named him as the one behind the operation.
Oh, and as I was walking down the main drag of Port Townsend last week, I somehow inexcusably missed the following establishment, but my family surely pointed it out! The tide is changing in America (or probably already changed!). Going back to a time 20+ years ago, when a proper respectable English football club dominated the country's consciousness. Rather than some other scummy clubs... run by brutal oligarchs, hedge funds or subject to 115 counts of shady financial misdeeds.
OK, here's an apt Random Shizzle post... While reading up on when we played PSG in a European semi (1994), I learned that in the 1st leg at Paris when we were 1-0 up at HT and the DJ put on "Go West" by Pet Shop Boys, the away supporters sang on top of that "One Nil to the Arsenal, One Nil to the Arsenal". Et Voila! Arguably our most famous song was born that night. Here's the article, in case you wanna read for yourself. It's got some nice photos, videos & tidbits, along with a few sloppy errors by an author who seems a bit math-challenged. https://www.arsenal.com/news/smith-psg-1994-and-campbells-crucial-goal
Looking ahead at our schedule, i was surprised to see we only have 1 home match in the month of November!
Nicolas Pepe article I came across today linked below. Not too many specifics in this one, just enough allusions to create a clickbait headline, but the one piece of information I found truly interesting was buried at the bottom as a footnote: "It’s worth noting that ‘flop’ Nicolas Pepe scored 27 goals with 21 assists for Arsenal in 112 games. Jack Grealish, who cost Manchester City €117.5m, has scored just 14 goals, with 20 assists, in 133 games. He is not considered a ‘flop’." https://www.yahoo.com/sports/bullied-london-thought-quitting-says-200100464.html
This is disingenuous as ******** Grealish was a key member of a treble winning side while Saka replaced Pepe. Jadon Sancho is a better comp for Pepe.
I'm glad someone piped up and made a counter argument. The price + stats, over time, make it seem like Pepe was a better purchase, while reality and results tell a different story altogether. Had Arsenal thrived as a result of the Pepe purchase, nobody would complain about his numbers.
That’s the key. We bought him and the team still sucked. That’s why Sancho and Mudryk are better comps.
I think the point is that neither purchase made their respective teams better? And that's a valid point, and that Grealish played with KdB doesn't really change that. But the bigger reason that comparison is flawed is that they're different players with different roles. Pepe never fit at Arsenal because he's at his best in a team that sits deep and counters, and he was a strange tactical fit. Grealish is a great fit at City, he just doesn't have the output you want from a 100m wide creator.
that’s a contradiction. He fit great and it’s what City wanted and they won the treble with the great fit playing a key role. And I am not saying Grealish was worth the fee, but he fit in with what they wanted. I think pointing to Sancho and Mudryk are better comparisons because they were expected to be output players and have done nothing.
