Yeah i get it Xhaka has been one of the best midfielders in europe the last year or more, so obviously it's not really possible to replace him directly
I would also prefer Ruiz to Merino. Ruiz can play as a 6 or an 8. Merino hasn’t played as a 6, that’s Zubimendi’s role at Real Sociodad. Merino is a 76% career passer, which can work for an attacking mid, but doesn’t work as a 6. If he and Rice play together, Rice has to be the 6.
I think with the additions of Calafiori and Timber we are probably looking at a new progression model. If I’m right, I think Rice can play the 6, because we’ll be less reliant on Partey’s ability to turn on the ball and quickly play forward (carrying or passing) after receiving from the center halves.
I think that's what Elliot or Clive speculated on today's AV podcast. I wasn't listening super closely.
The group that owns Nottingham & Olympiakos want to hire Edu to the the CEO of both clubs 1819414564133273783 is not a valid tweet id
Merino has massively high aerial win % and one of the highest win back % high up the pitch as well from a stat video I saw (hopefully reliable) I think he could be a pressing monster used with and instead of rice he’s left footed so hopefully can partially do the xhaka role with a bit more mobility
That place and (because of) that owner seem toxic. Hopefully Edu has sense and says GTFO p.s. Your post was a much more appropriate use of this Shizzle thread than transfer gossip.
Szczesny calls it a day. Have a nice long smoke kid. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...-arsenal-juventus-goalkeeper-szczesny-retires

I watched the new MIB episode on Peacock today, all about Arsenal. It’s also available on YouTube, and here are the three interviews for your listening pleasure…

Smart, if not obvious, move by the club (not to give him #10) Now, as I heard Wrighty say today, let him endear himself to us, with a goal at the toilet bowl in a few weeks.
He will score in his first 3 games for us, would be excellent if he could score V Spuds and then V City.
Good stuff from Tierry Henry on Paramount's Champions League Post Game Show. They were playing the Q&A game "In the mixer" and the question was "what is the greatest goal you ever scored in your career?" Jamie dodged the reference to the 8 career own goals he scored, by saying he scored in his Liverpool debut in front of the Kop, which is a solid memory indeed. With Gareth Southgate marking him, no less. I'm pretty sure Micah made up the goal he said he scored against Stoke. But then Tierry humbly stated, barely audible, that because of the emotion of it at the time, it was when he scored against Leeds in his return to Arsenal. #Legend
Classy, but it would've been funnier if he said it was the one when he spun Carragher and the entire Liverpool defense around like tops.
Tierry just doesn't vibe like that on Paramount. He usually comes across as the adult in the room. The only time he cracked a smile over an hour was when Trent Alexander Arnold said he was the famous person he wanted to meet most.
Oh, I've watched him there. He did a little trash talking with Mike Grella today. Although in fairness, Grella started it.
