On a surface level, yeah. But I'm sure the devil is in the details. It says losses were 6.6m more than the prior year, which would suggest 97.6m in losses the last 2 years. So a loss of more than 7.4m this year, or more than 7.4m in 2021, would exceed the 105m cap.

But investment in youth academies and women's teams don't count towards PSR. So maybe the relevant number for PSR purposes is lower?

The 105m is also fairly arbitrary, it hasn't increased with inflation. And 105m in losses is very different if you are Luton or if you are City.

IIRC Arsenal have very little headroom with the PSR rules at the moment

Yeah that's what I was assuming. Thus my comment about the loss, even if "only" 52M, having some negative impact on the upcoming window. Unless of course we do some bang up work on outgoing player sales fees?! :D

Looks like only around £34m of this loss will count towards the PSR calculation, so they’ll be able to lose a similar amount next year. With Champions League and other revenue increasing they should be fine to spend this summer.

    It's 105M Pounds total over a 3-year window, right?

Yes, but there are a lot of things that don’t count toward the calculation, like ‘exceptional’ write-downs and investments in the youth team and women’s team, etc., so the actual losses that are reported are not the same as those counted for PSR purposes.

Just noticed that with Chelsea’s advancement in the FA Cup, Arsenal’s home game vs Chelsea will have to be rescheduled, leaving a 19 day gap between the home game with Porto and the showdown with City at City. I’m not sure whether this is good or bad, but I’m leaning toward it being a good thing. Maybe they should schedule another warm weather training camp, the last one definitely revitalized the team.:D:D

I saw that as well. Hopefully it allows more of the fringe and injured players who are returning to first team training to better assimilate for a strong run in the final stretch. Notably, I'm looking at OZ, Partey, Timber, Vieira, Tomi, and ESR.

19 day break, plus Timber Partey and Jesus coming back....some extra juice for our title charge!

Could be wrong but I don't think we should count on Timber being match fit before mid April.

He’s in full training. I bet we see him on the bench before the international break. But, yes, ‘match fit’ for starts will probably be after the break.

Playing Timber seems so dicey this year.

Excellent! He's undersung and underrated. Thought that's changing fairly quickly it seems.

If he doesn't have a thread already, why not make one?! After all he's your fave :)

I've made Champions League Draw threads in the past, but they are typically short lived. Does anyone object to discussing who we draw here?

I'm about to go to bed and don't feel like hyping this up right now, but the draw kicks off about 7 hours from now...

I don't think Arsenal should fear any remaining team.

They're all top teams, that's why they made it this far.

Personally, I'd prefer to avoid City, Barca and Bayern for recency reasons.

My dream matchup would be Real. A chance to play on the biggest stage in Europe, in my opinion.

Maybe I should have just created a thread?

Bayern and then either City or Real.

One set of fixtures at a time.

@yossarian is right, we owe Bayern a good whoopin'

The narrative requires Bayern. As Jitters would say, this is tremendous content.
