Oh, agree 100% I just wonder how the team will handle a sponsor complaining about a player's statement.
I don’t get it. What is so wrong with what Mo said? That the club has to “speak with him“ about it? Ps. My sum total knowledge of this whole thing is from this little article which I assume is accurate? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.es...ial-media-post-by-mohamed-elneny?platform=amp
Supporting Palestine = antisemitism to a large class of smooth-brained morons. The club has to speak with him because a sponsor got mad about it, and players aren't allowed to endanger the almighty dollar (or pound).
Somehow I thought we'd gotten beyond that. Seriously. Would the same sponsor (an Italian coffee maker?) be peeved at the press using the word "Palestinians" or the phrase "two state solution". It seems absurd to countenance the sponsor in this case. Or the club who has to "talk to" Mo about it.
Especially seeing Eduardo and Diaby before their legs got wrecked by brutal tackles... I'd forgotten how much of a threat Adebayor was as well.
With regard to Diaby, isn't this squad post Dan Smith? Maybe prior to when Essien wrecked him again, but I think this video is a year or so out from the Smith tackle.
It's after his first massive injury, but he did display some serious talent that season. Then I think he got hurt again.
I'd forgotten how much I loved Hleb. The sheer creativity and offensive work rate of some of those squads was amazing.
During the height of the pandemic shutdown (last April-May) podcasts were looking for content, so the AV pod did nearly an entire episode on that 07-08 team --- how much fun they were to watch and how close they came to winning the league.
What. A. Team. If not for the random defeat to Middlesbrough around Christmas and the run of draws following Eduardo's injury (clearly the team was shaken) they'd have won the league. Did Hleb do anything of note at Barcelona? I don't think he did. Would have been better for him and Arsenal if he had stayed.
We have rinsed Barcelona on so many signings over the years. They used to love a mostly washed-up Arsenal player.
LOL. That would make a fun list. Henry. Hleb. Song. Overmars. Petit. Vermaelen. Fabregas. Van Bronckhorst (the scoundrel won the Champions League in '06 against Arsenal dammit). Am I missing anyone? Of that list I would argue only v. Bronckhorst actually got better at Barcelona. Everyone else either stagnated or declined badly. Cesc was still really young when he left for Barca and should have continued to grow as a player, but I don't think he really did.
Fabregas went on to have a great career. Won so many trophies. Individually he made the right choice to leave arsenal for his own legacy imo
Fab was good but not let off the reigns like he was here I think even though he won stuff, he might regret leaving
Fabregas’ stardom was the biggest when he was at Arsenal. He even had his own tv show. But now in the late stage of his career, he can look back and say he won it all except the CL. Better than Kane,at the moment, who has been a top player in the EPL but have no major trophies to his name.
Cesc was the man at Arsenal. At Barca and Chelsea he was just another cog in the machine. He was (and still is) a great player, but I never saw him hit the heights for latter teams the way he did with Arsenal. Just the way I see it. I won't say I saw him play all that much after he left Arsenal, but I just looked it up and I think it says a lot that Spain haven't capped him since 2016. He was still only 29 at the time and not deemed worthy of a spot in his national team when just a few years earlier he was an automatic inclusion.
Cesc won a World Cup and 2 Euros. Very few players can say they achieved that. He’s been there and done that on an international level. IIRC, he assisted Ineista for the goal that won Spain their first and only World Cup… and he was an arsenal player at the time. During the celebration, puyol put the Barca jersey on him.
Arsenal coming to Orlando for a week (July 21-28). Maybe some of y’all in will make the trip, especially the folks in GA/FL??
As much as I'd like to ride the Hulk rollercoaster with Aubameyang, drink some butterbeer with Tierney in Hogsmeade, or laugh at the antiquated Pirates of the Caribbean with Partey, we'll have just returned from a long vacation in St. John that week. Can't justify more time off from work that soon.
Yeah, I was thinking that Arsenal may be in for a bit of a rude awakening as to how many fans actually buy tickets and show up. Now that we've staked our claim on the 8th best team in England for the 2nd year running, and paired with Everton (10th) & Millionairos (3rd in Colombia). Only Inter, the current league champs, are the exception.
