But for a head butt that may well have cost France a second World Cup title in 8 years, to go with their 2000 Euro title would we be arguing about whether or not he was over rated.
Thing is zidane won everything there is to win, scoring goals in finals and generally being the best player in his sides at the time
Happy WWTLAWHL day everyone. 16 years ago today, what a fun day out we had in Tottenham. #arsenal #invincibles pic.twitter.com/esYqryyced— Stuart MacFarlane (@Stuart_PhotoAFC) April 25, 2020
Archived match of Arsenal hosting Citeh ('03?) on NBCSN. Highbury, Giles Grimandi, Freddy assisting Bergkamp...
The Tuesday Club is re-starting through Arseblog. New episode out today. Haven't listened yet but at least it will burn some clock while we're waiting for this to end.
Yeah, I remember watching that at the pub and being slightly disappointed --- Jens engaging in unnecessary argie bargie with Bullethead to give away that penalty.
On the flip side, Henry said in an interview that the team was asked not to celebrate at White Hart Lane and he agreed, and the team only celebrated at WHL because the Sperz players were celebrating a draw. Yeah, it would have been nice to clinch the league title with a win. But the draw meant that the Arsenal squad celebrated winning the league on the pitch at White Hart Lane.
But it wasn't just the draw, it was how it came about. We went up 2-nil and couldn't hold it, including a stupid (albeit dubious) penalty in the 90th minute. Coming only a couple of weeks after our CL and FA Cup exits, just speaking for how I felt watching it live at the pub --- it was a bit of a letdown.

Statsbomb is doing this project where they're profiling the Invincibles. They did Thierry Henry a few days ago, and I'd link him, but that's boring because he profiles as what we'd expect - elite striker who shot a ton, assisted a ton, and shot from some really poor locations, and could curl the ball around the keeper from the left repeatably such that he ended up being a well above average finisher. This is more interesting: Have you got stuck into the Arsenal Invincibles Season Data yet? Robert Pires contributed plenty: pic.twitter.com/3C1pLoQndH— StatsBomb (@StatsBomb) June 4, 2020 Not sure what to say here - I expected Pires to profile better than this?
Here’s Rory Smith’s latest piece, about the North Bank construction mural from 30 years ago, reflected on today’s racial climate and events... https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/08/...-bank-mural.html?referringSource=articleShare
Rather than just stick this in the Other Crap thread, I decided to give this old thread a little love... I just read this nice piece by Beth Mead. Well-written, like a good college application essay. But I enjoyed the different themes: shy-girl, getting-outside-your-comfort-zone, adapting-to-new-roles, girl-in-a-boys-game, etc. And appreciated her openness about her vulnerabilities. https://www.arsenal.com/news/beth-mead-my-own-words
