The article(s) in question do quote Peter Wilt as suggesting the Fire might help out the team. What do you guys think of that? The Rampage did win last years A-league championship, and the Fire have had good relations in the past with the team.
Milwaukee soccer fans really need to support this club. The move from the old stadium to the new facility is only about 20 minutes. This is a dang good second division team. Recall they knocked us out of the Open Cup and then went on to win their league. With the Fusion contracted after winning a trophy and the Rampage in trouble now, it looks like the MetroStars' business model might be the wisest way to go.
But it might as well be in Chicago if you don't have a car. I'd go to (most) every Rampage game if at least it was on a bus line, but the nearest public transportation stop is 6 or 7 miles away. And a cab there is $45-$50 each way so that's pretty much out of the question. And there are no bars that organizes buses there like there are in Chicago to Naperville. It's easier for me to go to Fire games (when they're playing at Soldier Field) than Rampage games. Amtrak takes me downtown Milwaukee to downtown Chicago, then short bus ride to Soldier. I've gone to Fire matches on an impulse, something I can't do for the Rampage.
You hope there are too many interested parties around to see the Rampage die, but who will step forward?
