Raleigh scored two goals midway through the first half and then held off a game comeback attempt by West Virginia to win their first US Open Cup Qualifier 2-1 Saturday night at SAS Stadium in Cary.

A PK from David Boole (UNC) on 20 minutes and a nice finish to some excellent passing within the penalty area from Bryant Salter (NCSU) six minutes later were the Raleigh highlights. Salter was easily the most dangerous player on the pitch all night and Michael Harrington (UNC, US U-17 National team), inserted at halftime, showed what a little speed to burn can do.

Absent from the match day roster and the bench was Steve Curfman (Wake Forest, US U-17s). He's listed on the website roster so hopefully he just had other commitments last night and we'll see him play in the coming weeks.

Note: The start time for the Friday, May 21st game against Williamsburg Legacy has been moved to 6pm.
