I just saw an article titled Ragnhild vil til Algarve that was posted at the Norwegian website "toppserien.com" and it says that Ragnhild Gulbrandsen wants to be included in Norway's squad for the Algarve Cup. Gulbrandsen has not played for Norway and only played 77 minutes for the Breakers since she had surgery on her achilles heel back in November of 2001. Ragnhild has since had more surgery and is having better results with this latest procedure and expects to be in good enough shape to play for Norway in Portugal. Norway has been mainly using a 4-5-1 formation during Ragnhild's absence and will likely go back to a 4-4-2 with Gulbrandsen and Dagny Mellgren starting on top. Here are the last two paragraphs of the article along with my rough translation: Now she can look forward to more playing time with the Boston Breakers under their new coach, Swedish legend Pia Sundhage. Then it can be double Norwegians on top for the east coast club. "She said we shall play a 4-4-2, with Dagny Mellgren and me on top. I believe I can be very good," grins the Ranheim girl.
Ragnhild would have been back in action for the Breakers and Norway if Trondheim-Orn had not played her for 90 minutes straight in the European club championship last spring.
