Don’t want to get my hopes up too much but not every great player is a great manager.. Gently optimistic. I hope he does well and manages to stir things up in Mexico. marquez + guardado sounds pretty damn exciting.
One weak area moving to 2030 is CB Montes will be 33 which isn’t a death sentence, but we’ve seen others take a hit post 31ish (Moreno looked off by then) and he’s had some injuries Johan will be 31 so he’s right in the peak Zone depth here is kinda critical Especially since Aguirre only took two cbs
Ehh, with Israel Reyes and even Edson Álvarez there and guys like Everardo López, Diego Campillo and even Chiquete waiting in the wings, I think we can hold on. My main concern is striker and the wings.
This should be a good starting template going forward. I wouldn’t write off Piojo yet. As someone who heavily criticized him and always thought of him as someone who only shows up against CONCACAF teams, he had a good World Cup and does well helping defend. For RB, that spot should be filled by Huescas or Araujo once they are healthy but Ledezma is also in the picture It’s a shame that Marcel Ruiz got injured before the World Cup because I’m sure he would have been playing rather than Romo. Depending how he returns from his lengthy injury we might see him again, but for now keep calling up Obed, Brian, & Fidalgo and maybe give Montiel a chance We are looking much better now than in 2022 that’s for sure

I’m excited for this. This is the first time there’s been a quick transition and actual process for a new coach since I’ve been alive, always there was some dramatic wait period only for some awful guy to be selected. Rafa gets to continue right where vasco left off and specifically said he’s going to be working with younger players, even said he would be working closely with Lillini and the youth teams. I have high hopes! I hope it works out for them because both him and guadado left Barca and Betis youth teams to be here, and we hardly ever have coaches given the opportunity in Europe
Next FIFA date is in September, so we won’t have to wait long. One thing I like about Rafa is he seems really involved, hands on, even when he was at Leon and atlas you could see his organizational abilities. Not going to be like Tata and I’m assuming vasco who were largely out of the country while coaching and had a certain distance from the actual reality of a lot of players
We will watch his career with great interest. He's got big shoes to fill however, Vasco Vol. 3 was lit. But just remember if he doesn't work out, Vasco Vol. 4 is waiting...

This is my one fear with Rafa. He has no charisma and doesn't seem to care about politics. As a DT of the NT he has to care about this to form consensus and to get buy in from the owners. The one thing that can do him in is this blindspot of his.
If you guys watched that documentary on Marquez and how strict his dad was in training Marquez, he will surely instill discipline on this team. Hopefully this coaching change will weed out the lazy Liga MX lifers and hopefully his standards force players to move abroad. Again, hoping.
