Sorry for the delay in updating you on the status of the possible MetroStars Radio Show. Thanks for all of your great ideas and emails to the station. Here's the story ... After serious negotiations, we could not reach an agreement with ESPN Radio. We are now talking with another NY station about this possibility. We are in the early stages of negotiations with this station. It is a very powerful station with strong brand recognition but currently doesn't have sports as part of it's programming. We are hopeful of a deal but not overly optimistic. We'll keep you updated as the process unfolds. Thanks again.

Are we going to expect an announcement in 30 days?

Not to bring up a year old thread for no reason, but did anything ever happen with the Metrostars radio show that had been talked about? I've only been hardcore Metro for 11 months now (Jamison plug) so I missed what happened here.

And speaking of soccer radio, don;t foget that every Monday night World Soccer Weekly in conjunction with Big Soccer Radio will be broadcasting online starting at 11 pm - 2 am, and 620 am WSNR will puck up the show from 12 am - 2 am.

    Re: Re: Radio Show Update

what do you expect? If they said they were optimistic and it didn't happen everyone would go nuts. We already had a "expect an annoucement in 60-90 days" joke in this thread. You gotta expect the MFO to be a little gun shy when giving updates like this. It's sort of a catch-22.

guys, please remember this thread is 1 year old and was brought back from the dead. I think you can assume that they were looking to get a radio deal done, it didn't materialize, and it died a quiet death. If you were them, would you come on and say "hey, we failed at this..." if no one was busy remembering it in the first place?

We have a TV show on MSG, which is a big plus. No radio show. Maybe one day.

    Well said.

We have a weekly 30 minute show on MSG and a well-done 30 minute pre-game show. While it would be nice to have some sort of radio show to call in like on WFAN, the weekly and pre-game shows draw more attention to the Metros than a radio station that no one would know about or find.

    Failure....

Just what you expect from MFO, they can't help it....its their nature....

Maybe now that Shitcago got their new stadium project started, maybe they can sack Nick S. and bring in someone like Mr.Wilt....someone who actually knows what he's doing!?!?!?!?!?!?

um....maybe it's a good thing Metro doesn't have a radio program, just listen to the abortion 620 puts on and realize Metro actually made a wise decision not to persue their own show...

I thought Nick just got re-signed as he was doing all he can for the project but local laws were mkaing Harrison a tough enough project in the first place.

As for PW, this thing only happened so quickly because Bridgeview's mayor was fighting tooth and nail for it, now we need to see if the city council goes for it, so it's not done yet.
