    Yeah, nothing new here.

At least the gigantic banners with anti-semetic slogans weren't present this time around. So I guess it is an improvement.

Yeah, everyone knows that Lazio Fans are some of the most racist fans on the face of the earth... in order to be shocked, go to Rome and watch a lazio game, its horrible, its even more elevated during Lazio-Roma, due to the fact that this rivalry matches right up with Fla-Flu and Sao Paulo-Corinthians.

    Forza Roma

And here come's the "All Lazio Fans are Racist Scum" band waggon. I think this BBC report has been majorly exaggerated. I listend to the first and most of the second half of the match and only once did I hear any form of monkey chant.

The BBC are a total bunch of mutha ************in scum. They go to the one game in Italy this weekend were they know there will be some form of abuse to all of the players on the pitch.

Like i said before, Although Racism is unacceptable it is not football's problem it is socity's problem. And in a game like this fans are always going to find any reason to abuse the oposing players.

"On the pitch, there were three black players playing for Roma, and none in the Lazio side."

    So fcuk.

There are plenty of clubs around the world that have only black players and plenty that have only white players.

Next they will be going to japan and complaining that most teams in the J-League only employ asian players.

my God mate, mr magoo don't be so full of s.h.i.t.

"Although Racism is unacceptable it is not football's problem it is socity's problem. And in a game like this fans are always going to find any reason to abuse the oposing players. " what BullS.H.I.T

the people are taking racism to the football matches so yes it is footballs problem also, they are other ways to insult the opposing players, ive been to baseball and basketball games in america and they can be creative without being racist .

"There are plenty of clubs around the world that have only black players and plenty that have only white players. "

name a club in one of the three major leagues EPL, serie A and La liga with all white players or all black players, enlighten me cuz i don't know of one apart from atletico bilbao.

you are right about the bbc picking the lazio roma game as an example because they knew what would go on but fcuk if the lazio fans weren't so narrowminded then there would be no cause for the bbc to head down there.

I guess I'm totally lost. Either this goes back to the topic at hand (which is a legitimate concern - and not the sole province of Lazio fans) or I bin it.

By the way, the most interesting item in that article was the lack of any sort of police or security actions. They look the other way, and I think this is the real problem. If UEFA is serious about taking on racism, then something is going to have to change in this regard.

oh for sure i bet not all of them are racist, there are a bad bunch, i belive all clubs and countries have a bad bunch who soil their name but it is as if magoo is saying nothing can be done about the racism at football grounds its all on society and that is not right because something can be done.

Sue: is this the passage you're talking about?

"Was there any visible anti-racist action from the club or police?

No - the Curva Nord, where the hard-core Lazio fans sit, is policed and stewarded by Lazio ultras - the fans themselves.

The club accepts that they do not have control of that area.

There were anti-racism banners in the Roma end, put there by the Roma fans, not the club."

    You're right: that's interesting.

    .

Now listen i never said that it carn't be stoped ferrari, its just that you carnt exactly educate people about not being racist at a football match.

Thats why i said it's socity's problem because people need to be educated about racism outside of football

these are the facts as i see them:

how ironic that the bbc would focus on rasicm in italian football,
as if the english are a bunch of angels.

they are just jealous of all the hot italian ladies in the stands!! just kidding ;)

but seriously, there are teams in premeir divisions in europe that dont sport black players, but it is not indicative of their racial tendencies.

i think you would find some of the hard core fans from any city use anything they can to berate and harras players.

while its true that being rasicst is taking it to an unacceptable level, its a load of ************ to single out italians as any worse than anyone else.

and whats this ************ about no black players on lazio, what has that go to do with anything?
does the greater amount of black players on a team mean their fans are naturally more racially tolerant people?

if youre a good player, you could the colour pink, and it wouldnt matter.

Lazio does have a black player on thier books by the name of Fabio Liverani. Though, he is half Italian.

Man, I love how people get blinded by their PC colored sunglasses.

In the early 90's Claudio Caniggia left AS Roma and accused their fans of being racist against foreigners, those same fans that were encouraged by then team captain (Gianini or Del Vecchio?? can't recall the name to be honest). Bottom line, Roma fans aren't any better.

I won't even get into the racist stuff because I think the viewpoint given in the media is biased in favor of selling papers.

That said... Forza Lazio, Non mollare mai!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taking the racist equation out of Lazio supporters I still believe they have no class. This was proven by the way they treated Nesta on his return to the Olimpico. Could you imagine Roma fans booing Totti or Milan fans booing Maldini if they were playing in the away jersey? I can't. Didn't they realize that Nesta didn't want to leave Rome and was forced out by Cragnotti? Obviously, they are not intelligent enough to figure this stuff out. The funny part is they cheered Nedved like a conquering hero when he returned to Rome last year. Go figure

This article was written by somebody looking for a story. It is so lacking in substance. Obviously this is a case of a journalist looking to create news where there is none. Here is his most ridiculous statement:

I did not see a single black or Asian face in the crowd. It was 100% white.

Yeah, well no sh!t, Sherlock! This was Italy, you know, like in ITALIANS live there not Nigerians or Koreans. The percentage of Asians or blacks living in Italy is very, very low.

Simple. Nesta always kept his distance from the supporters, especially the hardcore ones. Nedved played up to them. Period.

And they did realize Cragnotti forced him out, but he comitted the sin of welcoming the move. The fans hate Cragnotti beyond anyone else linked to the club.

Once again, the BBC is not just focusing on racism in Italian football. They are focusing on racism in general in football. This feature on Italy was just one in a series of stories. There are also reports on France, Poland, Britain, Germany, Holland, etc.

    For the others look here:

Well I'm glad there were no Blacks or Asians at the Olimpico as we would of been hearing in this report, how they were racially abused by the Nazio supporters or even beat up.

And to add to that, any asains or blacks that do reside in Italy would almost undoubtedly jump of the Inter, Juve or Milan band waggon seeing as they are the most succesful and most popular teams in Italy and Europe.
