While I can’t say I’m surprised by this...it’s frightening to imagine what lies in the days and weeks ahead....particularly in those states with Governors as ********ed up as trump I'm in touch with someone who's on the governors' call with President Trump right now. They and others listening in are alarmed. The president is urging governors to take back the streets, not be "weak," and use force as the nation faces growing racial unrest.— Robert Costa (@costareports) June 1, 2020
Do you know how to ride a horse? I don't, but I know it is not easy, and I know that riding at the pace the person in Chicago was riding at takes some skill and experience. This is not to say that person did not steal the horse, but it seemed really, really odd that he was riding at that pace having just stolen a horse. There was something else going on. That was my initial assumption, and nothing which made me change it. That's great PR, but how many will turn in their badges? Few, if any. The issue is the follow up. How many officers will the Chief fire for shit not quite as obvious and as blatant? I've read about the firing a few times this morning. Glad the victims are being named and recognized. Now, how about the perps, the ones who need to be publicly shamed? The ones who committed the act of aggression and violence and haven't been charged with a crime and look to be able to walk away? They need their names out there as well.
Descending into madness.... I'm in touch with someone who's on the governors' call with President Trump right now. They and others listening in are alarmed. They’re going to run over you, you’re going to look like a bunch of jerks. You have to dominate."— Ed O'Keefe (@edokeefe) June 1, 2020 MORE: Trump tells governors: "You’ve got to arrest people, you have to track people, you have to put them in jail for 10 years and you’ll never see this stuff again," per audio obtained by @CBSNews— Ed O'Keefe (@edokeefe) June 1, 2020 https://twitter.com/edokeefe/status/1267480935823441920?s=20
I don't know why this canard about the Chicago horse is still being mentioned here. The dude was riding his own horse, not a Police one.
I heard from a friend who just bought a place near Farragut North metro in DC. She took a walk down to Lafayette Square. On the way there she noticed that people were indiscriminate when it came to looting. One of my favorite lunch spots, Julia's Empanadas had its windows smashed. The sports bar next to it had football matches on all day on weekends. A lot of family businesses (convenience stores and non-chain eateries) were smashed. BTW the second pic is of the Tadeusz Kościuszko Monument. A monument/statue dedicated to commemorate the Polish and American hero, general Tadeusz Kościuszko, who supported the American cause during the Revolution. A close friend of Thomas Jefferson's, with whom he shared ideals of human rights, Kościuszko wrote a will in 1798 dedicating his U.S. assets to the education and freedom of U.S. slaves.
I was responding to that point in time. The truth is that it is his, but my comment that you bolded is in the WHOLE context of what I said, not solely the bolded.
My county is expecting large protests; I have my doubts, but office has been closed and half of my co-workers have gone home.
Or suggest he have a staffer research "Gaspe affair" and "Boston Massacre" and "Lexington and Concord" for him...
I still think it is good that the Govs join the call, particularly those not on his side. They will know exactly what NOT to do when listening to this loonie. Furthermore, how will we find out about his rants if they don't join the call?
Some wiseass should say "Sorry, can't hear you so well, Mr. President. Maybe come out of your bunker."
This mofo is completely off his rockers..... LATER ON THE CALL Trump urges new laws banning flag-burning. "If a state wanted to try to pass a law that you’re not allowed to burn flags, with a certain punishment – a strong punishment – I would think that the United States government would be backing you up all the way.— Ed O'Keefe (@edokeefe) June 1, 2020
It would be very bad if the governors listen to him. However, I think even few Republicans will do so, and no Democrats. They've learned that he blusters and rants, but if you blow him off there's not much that he can or will do. Also, he looks to be the lamest of lame ducks politically.
They said the Maine(?) Governor asked him not to come citing security concerns. It just caused him to dig in his heels and insist on going there
If only I had googled... https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/05/29/what-does-********-12-mean/ According to Urban Dictionary, ‘f**k 12’ means ‘f**k the police’. This is the most commonly used definition and the one most used across social media over the past week. Other definitions state that the ’12’ specifically mean the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Narcotics Unit.
