BTW, here is a list of the cheapest new cars in the USA. Nissan Versa 12,815. https://www.autotrader.com/best-cars/8-least-expensive-new-cars-you-can-buy-today-238919 Cheapest new car in South Africa 142K SAR or about 9,366 USD. http://www.capetalk.co.za/articles/...ica-well-built-and-a-lot-of-car-for-the-price Cheapest in India about 4,000 USD (2.8 Lakh - 280,000 IR) https://autoportal.com/newcars/cheapest-cars-in-india-landings/ So let's not make too much fun of South African safety standards, I assume 9K buys you more safety than 4K in India.
Seeing Fiat dealers in Detroit is a relatively new thing. Ironically, my dad worked for GM but drove a Toyota.
Roots actually has a big impact on me. At 10 years old I was old enough to understand the plot, but not old enough to be cynical. Didn't seem to have impact on other kids in the neighborhood though.
I did read the book. (I was precocious.) It's a damn long book. OF COURSE it would take more than 9 hours. IIRC it's like 500 pages.
I read the book. I don't know if I'm precocious or not. I already know it's a damn long book. He was already going down for kidnapping, and the TV show doesn't do the book or the institution of slavery or racism justice...
I thought you were making a "she must be stupid" snarky joke. 10 seconds of google fu tells me it's over 700 pages. You're precocious if you read it at age 13 or 14. It ain't normal early teen fare.
It was a fairly popular read at that time with the high popularity of the mini-series. I was no older than 15 when I read it.
I did. And I got into a few nearly ugly discussions with peers who wanted to talk about the series (the first one, mid-70s) but had not read the book. It's kind of a trigger when people want to discuss certain kinds films or TV shows but have not read the associated book.
https://www.vice.com/en_uk/article/...tOpaQc9KwfMWEKD1QcZJEN7yZhn0JwhF0kqRNjlZQIclQ We Asked Every Premier League Club What They Would Do If a Player Walked Off After Being Racially Abused Some had a well thought-out response, others simply refused to engage.
I wonder, though? Is walking off going to create an incentive for fans to try to avert a likely loss by deliberately offending players in hopes of generating a suspension, a replay, a forfeit? And if the league does about the only thing it can do in such a place and run the forfeit on the offending fans rather than the abandoning team-- will that just create resentment and racism anew? As in "those NL's damaged my team to protect players they shouldn't even allow, no wonder grandad hated the blacks..." Its like ya can't win for losing where hate's concerned...
That can be dealt with by point deduction. That's sure to trigger some folks, but the message sent would be clear. Sure it will. But the work of de-Nazifying the German population took a while. Some say it's still going on. You don't stop teaching a wayward child, or at least you don't stop trying. You sure can't win doing nothing. Some will choose free will, others will step up.
Can I use this for my first country hit single? The B side will be "Take Your Obamacare and Shove It, I Don't Wanna Be A Commie No More"
Uruguay smack at an Auburn game Wow. Listen closely. Auburn fan taunting Vescovi. “Go back to Uruguay, this is America” #Vols pic.twitter.com/5OCuBLf7K7— Trey Wallace (@TreyWallace_) February 22, 2020
Heard about this yesterday. I just checked to see if he said,"Yur-o-gwy", which he did. He got a permanent ban from the arena, but he needs a quick refresher on Latin vowel pronunciation as well.
So...to be fair he's banned for no reason as the country the guy was told to go back to doesnot exist. Man, I would be a tremendous lawyer for racists.
The player is white so this Alabamian yoot doesn't believe in any of that newfangled "white power across borders" BS. That's hardcore.
We don't have yoots. We have chilluns or chil'ren. Luckily, he wasn't at a track and field event, or, God forbid, a soccer game... "Go back to Uruguay! This is America! We're developing talent for Berhalter's ride to the R16! Go home!"
It seems that Canada & Justin miscalculated by arresting those Native folks... Hey look at the positive, maybe this will bring down the current Canadian government and give a boost to the conservative party. I am sure they will handle the protest in a "better" way.
The thing is, they both handle it the exact same way - turn loose the RCMP, ignore & fail to prosecute non-Native violence
