Also, in the areas I’m familiar with, any homeless vet is homeless by choice, due to the VASH program. Now, oftentimes that veteran’s ability to make good choices is affected by substance abuse or mental illness, but the point stands…there are more than enough vouchers to serve every homeless veteran.

The San Jose Sharks have apologized for the racist message posted at a recent game.

MAGA will never see what the problem is.

I've been a Sharks fan since 1994, so this is disappointing. Maybe we have a racist operating the Jumbotron, but I expect this was a stupid mistake for which (as you point out) the team has apologized.

 

How does something like this happen by mistake? Did autocorrect turn a perfectly innocent statement into something else?

The only mistake here was somebody let their inner racist out.

 

Maybe, or maybe someone thought by ice they were referring to the playing surface.

Yeah, it looked bad because it was ICE and not ice, but the whole message was all caps. Probably a mistake.

Otherwise, it was the work of the only legitimately clever person in the whole MAGA movement. That seems like too much of a long shot, sort of like quantum physics creating a new universe in my closet. So mistake is a lot more likely than cleverness.

 

I think so. And it's completely inconsistent with everything I know about this team.

 

Here's what I think happened:

The person who paid for the message: Racist Trumper.

The Sharks employee in charge of that stuff: Honest mistake.

It'd be like if someone put a message up:
"Happy 10th Birthday Ryan Freeley! Love, your mom Melissa and your dad I.P."

"Happy anniversary Megan Mehoffer! Love, your husband Jack!"

Someone should have denied the message, refunded the fee and then watched the MAGA meltdown.

 

Either way it was a fail and embarrassing.

It be a shame if something happened to him.

 

If he was a white dude, he'd be white trash.

But...if we refer to him the same way we'd refer to a white dude expecting four kids with four different baby mama... Yeah, we don't do that, do we? There's gotta be a phrase here, something like "reverse hypocrisy" or "reverse stereotype" or some such.

Is it ok because he's a successful individual? If he was just out of jail with all those baby mamas, might the general consensus be different?

 

I don't think anyone has called Elon Musk white trash, but among the things he is known for is spreading his seed far and wide with many different women. Donald Trump has five kids from three different moms (I guess he was serially married to each of the moms at the time the kids were born) but people usually don't call him white trash. Trash, yes, but not white trash.

 

Trash = lack of income, then?

So is calling someone "trash" more of a classist insult? That makes sense.

But it's also...not right to laugh at Black people because someone's gonna call that racist. But also, if we're gonna laugh at the white dude responsible for four different pregnancies, equal treatment regardless of race?

It is not known when the panels were removed or why. This is reported by NRC. Panels about conscripts and heroes The panels were added last year. One panel highlighted African-American conscripts who fought against both the enemy and racism. The other told the story of George H. Pruitt, who drowned while trying to save comrades after the German surrender. According to the administrator, the American Battle Monuments Commission (AMBC), George H. Pruitt's panel is exhibited on a rotating basis. No explanation has been given for the removal of the other panel.

"What remains now at the exhibition in the visitor center is really too little attention for the black liberators," he says to NRC. About 12.5 percent of the American liberators were African-American, 172 of them are buried in Margraten. Bovens wants the issue to be raised with the current US ambassador Joe Popolo, who was appointed by Trump.

Now a number of parties in the Limburg Provincial Council have made a proposal to have the municipality of Margraten-Eijsden erect a memorial for those black, American soldiers. A number of parties, I hear you ask? Are there any parties against it? Who can be against that, you probably wonder.
Well, I'll tell you: The PVV, the FvD, the now openly far-right BBB and a department of local racists who have never learned to speak ABN and are therefore weighed down by the name Oos Limburg (Ons Limburg) are against it. That you know again why certain parties should be excluded from government participation.

 

It's telling the American racist assholes secretly removed the panels as it's unknown to the Dutch when it happened.

 

They probably work in DOD or whoever is in charge of military cemeteries

 

Let it implode.

 

If the racist Margraten move was ment to erase the black American sacrifices from history, it's a lost battle for the racist regime.
These racist assholes arenot the ones remembering them, it's us, the Dutch population, who remember and honour them.
For generations now the graves of the fallen liberators, American, Canadian, Polish etc. have been adopted by Dutch families and are being lovingly tended, no matter if they were Black, Indian/First Nation or white.
We, the people honour them.
Any racist imbecil, thinking he can erase them, is fighting a Don Quichotte battle against Dutch windmills.
Those black soldiers remembrance will be continued. No racist imbecil an ocean away can change that.
It's simply embedded into our culture now for generations on end. We owe them and express that by caring for their graves.
There are hardly any people left, who consciously experienced the war, but for the maintenance of the graves there is a waiting list of volunteers.
That's how deep embedded the respect for the fallen is.
