It's interesting in that his vote was challenged by the losing candidate who suggested he was a 'furriner', (sound familiar?), so shouldn't have been able to vote. But it's also interesting in that, because he was a business/property owner, he was relatively privileged in the sense that he was one of the 14% of people that could vote... most people couldn't.

They let the White harass this poor man and then shoot him. The White was not going to be arrested until someone spoke up.
