Can't someone accidentally on purpose load the guns of his opponents in the re-enacting clashes with real bullits?

Pinched from another thread: Great WaPo column by Sally Jenkins on the Tyreek Hill traffic stop. So even if you are a rich, black football player you can be manhandled by the police. It was fitting — and in line with the rest of the gross police misconduct on Sunday — that the union representing the cops issued a statement that insulted public intelligence. Frankly it should worry everyone with car keys. “First, to be clear, at no time was he ever under arrest,” the union said. Ahhhhhh, so a Miami-Dade traffic cop has the right to cuff and manhandle a citizen even if they are not actually in custody. The statement continued, “Mr. Hill was not immediately cooperative with the officers on the scene, who, pursuant to policy and for their immediate safety, placed Mr. Hill in handcuffs.” Now, here is a menacingly vague piece of verbiage. “Immediately cooperative.” The only threat to safety in the Hill traffic stop was the safety of these cops’ eggshell egos. You folks out there better hop to it. Fail to show enough immediacy to a cop and you might offend his vanity and get an armbar around the neck. That portion of the statement concludes, “Mr. Hill, still, uncooperative, refused to sit on the ground and was therefore redirected to the ground.” Redirected. Here again, it’s an interestingly vague word, that the police union uses to insidiously assert a right of force. The USA has all the ingredients of a successfull police state. The only thing needed to role it out is someone to install it with the help of "economic anxiety" voters.
In fact, the only plank of the Trumplican platform they care to discuss, the "immediately rounding up of illegal immigrants" has one specific description. We don't know how it will be paid for, we don't know who will determine or vet if someone is here legally or illegally, there is no process and there is no plan - other than to use the local police. Yay.

For those of an historical bent, here are two interesting links. https://www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2024/09/this-day-in-labor-history-september-14-1889 this is an interesting instance of how the Monroe Doctrine affected legislation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guano_Islands_Act Also, as far as the whole Haitians in Springfield story goes, I’m not sure all posters understand how Haiti is sui generis in the American political psyche of the 19th and at least early 20th century. Haiti has that status because the African slaves there defeated and kicked out the white slavers/colonizers. Haiti’s proof of concept terrified white Southerners.
The wannabe storm trooper who yanked Tyreek Hill out of the car, his name is Danny Torres, has been suspended 6 times over the course of his career for police misconducts, not to mention 4 letters of reprimand. In any other place of work, he would have been fired long time ago. Officer Danny Torres was placed on suspension at least six times during his 27-year career, according to his employee profile released late Friday afternoon by the Miami-Dade Police Department. The profile included information showing a 20-day suspension in 2018. In another incident in 2019, Torres was suspended for 10 days. The other four suspensions, between 2014 and 2016, were each for five days. Details of the suspensions were not listed. Torres also received at least four written reprimands between 1999 and 2020, the report showed. https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/14/us/tyreek-hill-miami-dade-police/index.html
"Danny"? Did he/his fam/ his friends really think he'd fit/they'd fit him in thru a White nick? Just go with "Daniel", mother ********er. "Danny" is for Partridges (but not Bonaduces) and O'Keefes.
USC student government denies funding for scheduled roast of Vice President Kamala Harris (msn.com) Group called Uncensored America wanted to get a bunch of high-profile righties and slur Ms. Harris under the guise of "roasting". The University of South Carolina (USC is in Los Angeles. The Gamecocks need to quit trying to come up in the academic world and refer to themselves simply as "Carolina") is the campus being discussed in the link.
Insults, put downs, "roasting" are a huge part of the MAGA movement. Even the most ardent Trump fan recognizes he's not very intelligent or knowledgeable but boy can he "tell it like it is" and "isn't PC" and they absolutely love him for it. Policy isn't that important. As long as people in power can totally shit on the groups that they don't like, they have their support. A big reason why MAGA has such a strong male and bro-ish component.
Neither North nor South Carolina has enough CFB history to claim a name by itself. If bball mattered more, the Tar Heels would have an edge. But y'all should play a bowl game to decide the issue permanently.
My University had this interesting course for your senior year. I think it was called university studies or something. It waz always taught by two professors to improve your worldview on a particular topic. I loved it and I thought more classes should be taught this way. So we had a history and a literature professor working on the American South. So you would be learning historical data and events and how books, newspapers and things of that time wrote about it and communicated it to the American public. Professor Carpenter was from North Carolina. I can't remember exactly where in North Carolina but I do remember I said the Carolinas at one point during the class and he stopped me. He basically said as a self-respecting North Carolinian, I can't have you just grouping us together like we're some type of milieu that's indistinguishable from each other. He was very adamant that though they were both Carolina, North Carolina and South Carolina where as different as can be and as long as we were in that class we needed to discuss the respective States as such.
Dave's actually right this time. It's true that parts of North Carolina are culturally light years ahead of South Carolina. Most everybody I know who's from NC will fight you if you try to equate the two. Black people, even the blue-collar bunch, enjoy a fairly decent standard of living in towns like Greensboro. You've got both NCA&T and Bennett (Morehouse's actual original sister school) in Greensboro, Central in Durham helping prepare students for the future battles. I don't know what the White schools contribute to fighting conservatism, but I'm sure some great alt bands come from Tobacco Road. Samuel DeWitt Proctor was the president of NCA&T when my folks were getting their Masters there; he went from there to leading the Peace Corps in Africa and then to pastor Abyssinian. Still downsides, tho. Vince Evans is from Greensboro, IIRC, went across the continent to play ball at USC because apparently, the schools in his state did not want a Black QB.
They should still meet in a bowl to decide who gets the name. Clemson v. (North) Carolina. EDIT: Actually, Clemson's three titles to none for the whole state of North Carolina kinda put this whole issue to bed.
