While Peru "copied" Brazil, Colombia "copied" Peru. At least since the late 70's and through the 80's, Colombian football was heavily influenced by Peru. With the likes of Cesar Cueto, Guillermo La Rosa, Julio Cesar Uribe leaving their mark in Colombian football.

Are there any news on Cavani's leg? I been Googling trying to find more news on it, and nothing, it said it still "uncertain" if he can play in the next match or not.
I really really want him in the match (against France). Arg!! finger cross, praying for him make it.

You think Uruguay can win France "without" Cavani? I dunno, my feeling said we really need him.

I don't like France, I want to see them out of this WC, whether it Uruguay win them, or Croatia win them.

Alot of people said Belgium will win the WC this year, they said Belgium really stood out, like the best performance group in this WC. But to me, from the matches, Belgium seem average to me imo.

If it come down to France vs Belgium in the semi-finals, I think France will get it.

Ofcourse I want Uruguay to win the next match, but I'm worry about Cavani leg problem.

It's not a tear or anything apparently, but he's still in pain and has inflammation in his calf. At this point he's 90% out of the match

Here's a tweet from the Selección Uruguaya's official account:

The MRI indicates no muscle tear, sprain, or anything broken which would've been a lot worse. It still seems doubtful that he'll be ready for the QF. But it's not impossible.

I hope Cavani plays vs. France. He won me over with the magnificent play on the first goal against Portugal.

    1. If you call us average, compared to what is that, exactly? Average implies that we fall somewhere in the middle of the pack of a group, what group is that?
    2. I like our chances against France. Against Brazil, less so.

Oh look, how cute! Too bad this type of fanatics cannot win an R16 match without it going to their heads.

I still remember Uruguay not knowing what to do when Costa Rica gave them a good hiding in 2014... 1-3 to Costa Rica? just 4 years ago? My goodness.

Well, Uruguay did know what to do... play dirty so that a Costa Rican would be expelled... did not work though: straight red card for Pereira.

Uruguay went on to R16 and got tutored by another South American school: 2-0 to Colombia.

In my opinion, the Uruguay-France and Brazil-Belgium matches are advanced semifinals, the winners will cross in a virtual final because the real one will be nothing more than a formality against Croatia or England, maybe Sweden ... maybe Russia ... da same.

Not sure why people just assume Brazil will just beat whoever they meet in the final. They needed 91 minutes to score against Costa Rica, couldn't defeat Switzerland and Mexico could have easily scored on them before they opened the scoring themselves had the Mexican frontline been a bit smarter in handling their counterattacks.

They are a good team, but they're not the Thanos of this World Cup. A good Croatia or England can definitely beat them in a one-off game.

Everything can happen, but history is becoming present in this world championship, as always. The only weird thing is that Germany is not in the semifinals, everything else is normal.

Us being in the quarter-finals is normal? It's only the third time it has happened!

It's normal for Belgium to beat Japan and for Uruguay to beat Portugal.

Uruguay is not favorite against France, nor will it be against Brazil or Belgium.
Uruguay would only be considered by the majority as a possible world champion when it reaches "the final". It is the history of the Uruguayan team, because it was never a favorite, it was always considered below Argentina or Brazil.

In world championships, France and Uruguay met four times.

    Paris 1924: Uruguay 5, France 1
    England 1966: Uruguay 2, France 1
    Korea-Japan 2002: Uruguay 0, France 0
    South Africa 2010: Uruguay 0, France 0

Belgium has something in common with Uruguay, the independence that Lord Ponsonby gave us.

And both, Belgium and Uruguay, are Latin countries if we consider that the Walloon region speaks a Latin language, like the French.
