As most, i expect this to be an ugly game.. low scoring.. this is the one team i didnt wanna play.. Uruguay.. they were flying under the radar entering the tournament, didnt get much discussion, always a tough team to play against with some elite talent scaterred around the pitch.. William and Adrien are going to have to really control that midfield and break down the attempts at getting Cavani/Suarez the ball.. Portugal should be able to expose Caceres, regardless if Bernardo Silva or Quaresma get the start..
I think that Ronaldo can step up again and produce something special. Frankly, I am still favoring Portugal if his influence on the pitch does its magic.
This is a tough match,Portugal has CR7,but Uruguay has 2 world class strikers in Suarez and Cavani, plus the Uruguay team knows how to apply pressure and control the time.Uruguay is like a pit bull, they won't give up and if people need to get bitten ,they will do that also, only if necessary.Uruguay has been playing a clean game though, and hasn't have to rely on the rough game, dangerous on set pieces and can outfox anybody in getting fouls called or just make a team lose composure.Im giving the edge to Uruguay.
Something tells me Pepe and co will not be able to contain Suárez and Cavani consistently and that will be the difference.
I predict VAR will be working overtime for this one. They may have to have two or three backup up servers just for this match and a bunch of thumb drives handy for any excess files.
With Messi's Argentina eliminated, I am absolutely conflicted when it comes to which side to root for in this match? On the one hand, I like Messi and absolutely don't like Ronaldo. Hate to see anything that would given Ronaldo an edge against Messi when it comes to the best player in this era. I also don't like Portugal's team much, but other than Cavani, I really don't like Uruguay either. On the other hand, I think it looks better for Iran if Portugal does well enough and gets passed at least Uruguay. On balance, I guess I will settle on the following: Portugal getting passed Uruguay and then getting thrashed by France, with Mbappe earning MOM honors and people forgetting there was a player named Ronaldo on that pitch!
Go Go Uruguay! I'm not a fan of Ronaldo, so basically any team in Uruguay place I will root for them too, lol.
Portugal: Rui Patrício; Ricardo Pereira, Pepe, José Fonte e Raphael Guerreiro; Bernardo Silva, William, Adrien Silva e João Mário; Gonçalo Guedes e Cristiano Ronaldo. Uruguai: : Muslera; Cáceres, Giménez, Godín e Laxalt; Torreira; Nández, Bentancur e Vecino; Cavani e Suárez.
No conflict on my part. Not even a little bit. Can't stand Ronaldo and I freaking hate Pepe. Go Uruguay!
I have to go with my perros de caza"Uruguay, who slowly but surely have won all their matches.1 Ronaldo is not equal to 2 World class strikers like Cavani and Suarez,or is he?We lol find out who's who soon enough.
Even though Uruguay have a decent side (not more), I have a hard time ever rooting for them when their star player became as famous for his cannibalism as his goals. As much as I don't like Ronaldo, at least he is no Suarez.
Portugal = CR7. Uruguay = Cavani, Suarez and Godin. This is a kid fighting for the candy. Let us see who gets the prize.
