Fernandinho coming in to get some chemistry with his teammates before the Belgium match.

It was a step not a stomp. I'm seeing it as akin to a studs up tackle.

Honestly I'd hate to see a red for that, especially with Neymar's playacting. But it's as clear a yellow as you'll see, you cannot go and step on a players ankle, it's strong taunting at least and that gets a yellow any day. Equivalent of throwing or kicking the ball at a player when plays over.

    That is unnecessary
You get red for intention there

Its amazing how Neymar is treated

Messi and Ronaldo are protected so much but Ney gets butchered every game

There should be ZERO contact when play is stopped. (and a studs up tackle should be red, frankly.) It's a red or nothing. What's the law 12 part that gets you to a yellow card? Unsporting behavior?

I guess you're saying that it isn't brutal enough for you.

He didn't 'stomp', he applied pressure. Big difference. Yes, it was done to piss off Neymar, because they know Neymar is a dick. They are trying to goad him in and get him off his game.

And so far, the game hasn't fallen into ill-repute. There is too much on the line.

You're playing strict interpretation, which is not what the officials do in a great many cases.

I don't think there was intent to injure though, just to taunt. Just trying to explain to myself why it wasn't at least a yellow. I thought it was a red tbh, but i'll accept it so no one can whine about the ref and Neymar after the game.

And if you did, you wouldn't be refereeing at this level, let alone a U-16 level.

No, and they should or we end up with a disaster like the 2010 final.

Bare in mind that Neymar earlier in the season broke a bone in his foot. At the last world cup, a Colombian broke his back. Those who think Neymar is overselling himself to the referee and play acting should keep in mind that he's doing this to ensure he gets better protection from the referee. I too think he should tone it down, but I can't blame him. He's been through too much of this before and I'd hate to see him suffer another serious injury that knocks him out of competition.

Which is precisely the problem. Go ahead, let players beat up on each other. Karate kicks, elbows to the head. It's all good!

He could tone it down if the referees would do their jobs.

The better team won but Osorio and Mexico fought them bravely for most of the match.

I hope Osorio is officially at the top of the list for the USA job now. He did a pretty good job all things considered.

I guess a little dos a cero would be frowned upon. Truth be told, I'd be rooting for Mexico against any other team.

    Oh hooray. Toothy scores.

Now lets see what Mexico does to end this game. At least Marquez is off the field.

Only Ney-sayers would not consider Neymar + Brazil favorites now....
