Peru is also a counter attacking team, so I don't really think so, because Croatia are also better at counter attacking ... Denmark is just not playing "South American" but more "Italian style", which can be quite destructive and boring at times, but it's not like they can't have most possession and pass the ball ... they can if they chose to do so ...

That's the third time we've seen a player grab the ball when he's down, hoping to draw a foul, only for the red to.call a handball. This is a good trend.

No, this is a contest between two teams trying to play the game. Niether has 11 players standing back clogging up the box. At three shots on goal apiece, both have infinitely more shots than Russia. Denmark has as many shots at 60 minutes as Russia had in 120, and Croatia has nearly double that (albeit 8 of 11 off target)

No, we have what would Spain v Russia could have looked like if Russia were an actual soccer team.

The Croatia / Modric coronation might have been a little premature.

I'm not happy how things are going. This reminds me of the Croatia - Portugal Round of the 16 game in EURO 2016. Denmark is frustrating Croatia similiarly to what Portugal did back then. Croatia needs to step up somehow.

This is very typical of Croatia.. they start of a tournament well.. look like they're going to do something big, get a great result, then blow it the next match. They do it every tournament.

Got to admire Yuraray's flair for the dramatic. If he gives up soccer, he could be the second coming of William Shatner.

I'm watching with the sound down, but after not getting the call, I'm sure he was yelling "Khaaaaaaaan!"

Someone mentioned that Peru always gets eliminated by the next Champ. I guess that bodes well for France & Denmark.

The boy playing with his phone sums it all :ROFLMAO: , might as well just go straight to penalties and ignore the extra times

Croatia is a counter attacking team by nature ... Denmark is the "Italy" of this tournament, so this was obviously going to be tight and not all that entertaining ... but they are both doing their best out there ...

To be honest they never looked great. Decent at best. They beat a pretty poor Nigeria and their defense struggled against a very poor Argentina. If Argentina scored one of their chances first it was 3-0 the other way.

This game is going exactly how I thought aside from that early goal flurry. Denmark takes the game I think, they've worn Croatia out and are looking the better side now.

Again, player gets his arm pulled, but the real issue is what happens when he hits the ground. He's not holding the shoulder that actually got pulled because the ground fouls harder than any defender.

Or maybe he is faking it....

Not really ... he was one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the German Bundesliga this past season and was on the verge of moving to the English PL but has just been sold by Werder Bremen to Dortmund for €20 million ...

So, if no goals are forthcoming, do we like Schmeichel in the shootout?

If this goes to extra-time, I don't see Denmark winning it. They're dead tired.
